Shine Like the Stars

Philippians 2:14-16 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Letter to the Philippians. A letter is one of the ways people use to share important news. Our story is about how WE can shine like the stars in the sky. Yes! I can shine like the stars, and YOU can shine like the stars. The Bible teaches us that when we do what Jesus says, like when we don’t argue or complain, we will shine like stars! Hmm. . . what does that look like? Well, when your mom asks you to clean up and you do it with a happy heart, without complaining, you shine like the stars! That’s it! Now when someone asks you to help clean up, you can say with a happy heart, “I can help!” and shine like the stars! Let’s say, “I can help” together.: “I can help!” Let’s try another one. When your brother or sister asks you to share and you do it with a happy heart and don’t argue, you shine like the stars. Now when someone asks you to share, you can say with a happy heart, “I can share,” and shine like the star

Acts 2:42-47; John 15:12; Hebrews 10:24 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Acts, which is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” An apostle is someone who is sent to teach others about Jesus. Our true story also comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of John. John was one of the friends and helpers of Jesus. And the word “Gospel” means “good news!” And our true story also comes from a part of the Bible called the Letter to the Hebrews. A letter is one of the ways people use to share important news. We begin with Jesus and some of the people who followed Him. One day, Jesus told the people to love others the way He loves them. So, do you know what they did? They loved like Jesus! When we think of love, we sometimes think of a heart. Can you make a heart with your hands like this? Do you know how the people loved like Jesus? Well, if someone needed a coat . . . someone gave them a coat! The people who shared the coat did what Jesus said and loved like Jesus. An

Matthew 28:18-20 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew was a disciple of Jesus. That means Jesus was his teacher. And the word gospel means “good news!” We begin on a mountain with Jesus and His friends, the disciples. While they were on a mountain, Jesus gave them a very important job to do. What do you think the important job was? Do you think Jesus told them to be a firefighter? Do you think Jesus told them to be a doctor? Do you think Jesus told them to be carpenters?  All of those are very important jobs, but Jesus had one important job that was for EVERYONE who follows Him. The important job Jesus told EVERYONE who follows Him to do is . . . GO and TELL! Jesus told them to go and tell everyone, everywhere that Jesus is alive AND Jesus wants to be their friend forever!  Wow! That IS a very important job! And that job is for you and me too. When we do what Jesus says and go and tell people that Jesus is alive, and Jesus wants to be thei

Matthew 5:1-2, 14-16 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew was a disciple of Jesus. That means Jesus was his teacher. And the word gospel means “good news!” We begin with Jesus. Jesus is very special because Jesus is God’s Son. One day, Jesus was on a mountain with His friends, the disciples. While they were there, Jesus began to teach.  Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” Hmm, how can PEOPLE be a light? We know that flashlights shine light. And we know that lamps shine light. But Jesus said, “YOU are the light.”  How can PEOPLE be a light? Great question! You see, when you are kind to people . . . you shine like a light so people can see that Jesus is kind.  When you forgive people . . . you shine like a light so people can see that Jesus forgives. You can shine like a light every day. Now, I have a game that will help you remember to shine our light! All you have to do is hold your finger out, like this: Hold your hand out with
