God’s Family Shares Together

Image
Hebrews 10:23-25; Acts 2:42-47 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Acts, which is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” An apostle is someone who is sent to teach others about Jesus. Our true story also comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of John. John was one of the friends and helpers of Jesus. And the word “Gospel” means “good news!” And our true story also comes from a part of the Bible called the Letter to the Hebrews. A letter is one of the ways people use to share important news. After Jesus went to Heaven, His friends wanted to keep learning about Him.  So they came together every day! They listened to the stories the disciples told. They prayed and sang songs. They ate meals together and thanked God. If someone didn’t have food, the others shared. If someone didn’t have money, the others helped. Everyone gave what they could so no one was left out. That’s what God’s family does! Sometimes they ate together in their homes. Sometimes they went t...

Paul Trusts God in a Storm

Acts 27:1-44; Acts 28:1-10 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Acts, which is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” An apostle is someone who is sent to teach others about Jesus. Paul was on a boat. He was going to a faraway place called Rome.  The waves were big, and the wind blew strong. A storm came, and the boat rocked and bumped! Everyone on the boat was scared.  But Paul said, “Don’t be afraid! God is with us. He told me we will all be safe.” The storm kept going and going. It was loud, and the boat broke into pieces.  But just like God said, everyone got to land safely! After the storm, they were on an island. The people there were kind. They helped Paul and his friends. Paul helped them too. Some people were sick, and Paul prayed for them. God helped them feel better. Even though he was shipwrecked, Paul still showed God’s love. Even in a big storm, Paul trusted God. God helped Paul and kept everyone safe. We can trust God too—He is always with us...

Singing in Jail

Acts 16:16-40 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Acts, which is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” An apostle is someone who is sent to teach others about Jesus. Paul and Silas loved Jesus and told everyone about Him. One day, they helped a girl who needed God’s help. But some people didn’t like what Paul and Silas did, and they got very angry. They had Paul and Silas taken away and put in jail! The jail was dark, and Paul and Silas had chains on their feet. But guess what? They didn’t cry or complain. They prayed and sang songs to God! All the other people in jail could hear them singing. Then—BOOM!—there was a big earthquake! The ground shook, and the jail doors flew open. The chains came off! Everyone was free! The jailer was scared. He thought all the prisoners had run away. But Paul called out, “Don’t worry! We are all here!”  The jailer was so surprised. He asked Paul and Silas, “What do I need to do to be saved?” !  Paul and Silas told him all about...
