God Made People

Genesis 1:26-29, 31; 2:7-8, 21-23

The Bible tells us that God made our world. God had made the sun to shine brightly in the daytime and the moon and stars to shine in the nighttime.

God had made plants of all sizes and shapes.

God had made fish that swam in the water. There were birds that flew in the air.

And God had made many animals, like bears, that lived on the land.

God looked at what He had made. And God saw that it was good.

But God wasn’t done making things. He wanted someone to take care of the world. So God did something very special. God made a man. First, God formed the man out of the dust of the ground. Then He breathed breath into the man. The man became a living person. God named him Adam. God made the first person, Adam.

God wanted Adam to have a friend and helper to live with him and love him. He knew it wouldn’t be good for Adam to be alone. So God did another special thing.

While Adam was sleeping, God made a woman.

When Adam woke up, God brought the woman to Adam. Adam called the woman Eve. God made the second person, Eve.

God looked at His special creation of Adam and Eve saw that it was very good.

God gave Adam and Eve a job to do. He wanted them to take care of the fish, birds, and animals. Adam and Eve took care of the fish that swam in the water, the birds that few in the air, and the animals that lived on  the land.

God said to Adam and Eve, “See the plants? They will be your food.” Adam and Eve ate the food that God made.

Adam and Eve had everything they needed in the beautiful world God made. And all that God made was… very good!

God made Adam. God made Even. And God made us!

Bible Paraphrase: The LORD is God. It is he who made us. (Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasturePsalm 100:3 NIV)

Text Truth: God made us.

Family Devotional

Read Genesis 1:26-29, 31; 2:7-8, 21-23. God created people. He also blessed them and provided for their every need. He also gave His “stamp of approval” on His special creation. But God’s creative work didn’t end there.

Psalm 139:13-14 says, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

Praise God for making you as you are and your family as they are, in His image, and made to have an abiding relationship with Him. Give honor and glory to your Creator.
