Easter

Matthew 26:26–28:10 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew was a disciple of Jesus. That means Jesus was his teacher. And the word gospel means “good news!” Do you know why we celebrate Easter? The true story of Easter begins with this. Do you know what this is? It’s a heart! Because Easter begins with God’s love for us. God loved us so much that He gave us His Son, Jesus, to be our friend forever. One night when Jesus was having dinner with His good friends, the disciples, He told them He would have to go away, but He promised He would come back.  After dinner, Jesus went to pray in a garden when some angry people came. They were so angry that they took Jesus away.  They hurt Jesus, and . . . He died. It was very sad. All of Jesus’ friends were so sad. They put Jesus’ body in a tomb with a big stone in front of it. Three sad days went by. Can you count them with me? One . . . two . . . three. On the third day, when some of Jesus’ friends we

Matthew 21:1-11, 15-16 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew was a disciple of Jesus. That means Jesus was his teacher. And the word gospel means “good news!” We begin in the town of Jerusalem when people found out that. . . Jesus was coming! The people were so excited that Jesus was coming! They might have said to each other, “Jesus is coming!” The people were so excited and wanted to celebrate and cheer for Jesus because they knew Jesus was special, and they had heard about all the amazing things Jesus had done. The people may have shouted, “Yay, Jesus!” The whole town lined up on the street to see Jesus. They took their coats off and laid them on the ground to make a special path for Jesus. And the people held palm branches up high so they could wave them like flags. When they saw Jesus, they wanted to be ready to celebrate and cheer for Jesus. You can pretend, too! Pretend you have a palm branch in your hand. Wave your palm branch and s

Washing Feet

John 13:3-17 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of John. John was one of the friends and helpers of Jesus. And the word “Gospel” means “good news!” We begin with Jesus’ friends, the disciples. The disciples were about to have a special dinner with Jesus. But there was a problem. The disciples’ feet were super-dirty! Why? Well, their feet were dirty because back then, they didn’t have cars. They didn’t have buses. So, if they wanted to go somewhere, how would they travel? They had to walk!  And the roads were very dusty and dirty. After walking on dusty roads, the disciples’ feet were very dirty. They needed to wash their feet before they ate dinner. But . . . guess what happened? Someone wanted to wash their feet for them! Can you guess who wanted to wash the disciples’ feet? Jesus wanted to wash His friends’ feet! Why would Jesus, God’s Son, who is SO super-special, want to wash His friends’ dirty feet? Jesus’ friend Peter said, “No Jesus, don’t wash my fe

Matthew 9:9-12; Luke 5:1-11 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew was a disciple of Jesus. That means Jesus was his teacher. Our true story also comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Luke. Luke loved Jesus and wanted others to know and love Jesus, too. And the word gospel means “good news!” Our true story is about the first twelve people who followed Jesus. They were called the disciples. Peter and Andrew were fishermen. One day, while Peter and Andrew were fishing, Jesus told them, “Follow Me!” And Peter and Andrew followed Jesus! James and his brother John were fishermen too. They were working with their dad when Jesus said, “Follow Me!” And James and John followed Jesus too! In the next town, Jesus found a man named Phillip! Phillip followed Jesus and brought his friend Nathanael. Nathanael to follow Jesus too! Next, we have Matthew. Matthew was a tax collector and had made a lot of bad choices. But Jesus still loved Matthe

Woman at the Well

John 4:1-30 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of John. John was one of the friends and helpers of Jesus. And the word "Gospel" means "good news!" We begin with a well. A well is a deep hole in the ground with water in it. A long time ago, people would go to a well to get water because they didn’t have sinks or refrigerators or water bottles. That means, if someone was thirsty, they had to go to a well for water! And guess who was thirsty in our Bible Story? Jesus! Jesus had been walking a long way and He was tired and thirsty. So, He sat down by a well. While Jesus was sitting at the well, a woman walked up to get water. Jesus asked the woman, “Will you give me a drink?” (John 4:7, NIV) The woman was surprised Jesus talked to her. She knew that the people from her town were not friends with the people from His town. So, the woman asked Jesus, “Why are You asking ME for a drink?” Do you think Jesus wanted to be the woman’s friend, even t
