Jesus Tells About Two Builders

Image
Matthew 7:24-29; Luke 6:46-49 Our story comes from two books in the Bible. They are the book of Matthew and the book of Luke. The Bible tells us many things. It tells us about God’s Son, Jesus. Many people would listen to Jesus tell special stories. He would tell a story about things that happened in the people’s lives. Then Jesus would tell what the story told about God. In that way, people could learn about Jesus and God. One day, Jesus told a story about two men. The first man was very wise. He knew that he needed a good place to build his house. He dug a deep hole so he could build his house on a big, solid, rock. Bang! Bang! ZZZZ! ZZZZ! He worked long and hard to build a nice house. One day, a great storm came. It rained hard. The wind blew and the river water came up. Because the man’s house was built on a big, solid rock, it did not fall down. The other man also wanted to build a house. But he was foolish. He didn’t look for a big, solid rock. Instead

Jesus Washed His Helpers' Feet

John 13:1-20, 34-35 Our story comes from a book of the Bible called John. In Bible times, people wore sandals that covered just the bottoms of their feed. Sometimes they just went barefoot. Bible-time people traveled by walking in their sandals on dirt roads. Everyone’s feet got dirty from the dust. They needed to have their feet washed when they went inside a house. Someone who worked at a house would wash the guests’ feet. It felt good on their feet. The Bible tells us about Jesus. One night Jesus had a big dinner with His friends. Special food was prepared... ...and a table was set. A big jar of water was probably set by the door for washing. But there was no one to wash anyone’s feet. Only Jesus and His friends were there. Jesus’ friends sat down at the table. Jesus wanted to do something special for His friends to show He loved them. Jesus took of His coat and wrapped a towel around His waist. Then He poured water in a large bowl.

Matthew 20:29-34 Our story comes from a book in the Bible called Matthew. The Bible tells us about two men who were blind. Blind means a person can’t see. Everything looked dark to them, just as it does when we close our eyes. They couldn’t see people or trees or flowers. Jesus Blessed the Children

Matthew 19:13-15 Our story comes from a book in the Bible called Matthew. The Bible tells us that many people came to see Jesus wherever He went. Old people, young people, and even sick people went to see Jesus. Jesus talked to the people and cared for them. Sometimes He made sick people better. Jesus took time to tell them about God’s love. Suffer the Little Children to Come Unto Me, James Tissot, c. 1886-1896. One day, some mommies and daddies wanted to bring their children to see Jesus. They wanted the children to know Jesus and have Him pray for them. Let the Children Come to Me, Anthony Van Dyck, c. 1618-20. The daddies, the mommies, and the children went to see Jesus. And they got closer, they could see Jesus. “Hurry! Hurry! Let’s go see Jesus!” the children shouted. At last the daddies, mommies, and children were near Jesus! The children began to run up to Jesus. But as they got closer, Jesus’ helpers stopped them. The helpers said to the daddies, mommies, a
