Jesus Gives You the Power to Have Self-Control

1 Timothy 4:12 Our true story comes from a book, or part, of the Bible called First Timothy (1 Timothy). We call it "First Timothy" because it is the first of two letters that a man named Paul wrote to his younger friend Timothy. self-control is when we choose love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and gentleness even when we don’t feel like it. And when we follow Jesus, Jesus gives us the power to have  self-control . But you can have power! We should never let anyone look down on us just because we’re young. In fact, there was a man named Paul who lived a long, long time ago. He loved Jesus and wanted everyone to know that Jesus is alive and wants to be their friend forever. One day, Paul wrote a letter to one of his younger friends named Timothy who also loved Jesus. He said, “Hey, Timothy, don’t let anyone look down on you because you’re young.” Paul knew that when Jesus is your friend, He gives you the power to do everythi

Mark 5:25-34 Our true story comes from the Bible. It is in the part, or book, of the Bible called Mark. Mark loved Jesus and told people about Him so they would love Him, too. There was a woman who had been sick for a very long time. None of the doctors could make her better. One day, the sick woman heard that Jesus was coming to her town. She had heard people say that Jesus had the power to do amazing things. She wondered if He had the power to make her all better. She hurried to find Jesus. When she saw Jesus, there was a huge crowd of people around Him. She thought to herself, “If I can just touch His clothes, Jesus’ power can make me better and I won’t be sick anymore.” The woman squeezed her way through all the people so she could get close enough to Jesus to touch His clothes. Then, without even asking, the woman reached out and touched the bottom of Jesus’ clothes. Just like that, the woman was all better. She wasn’t sick anymore! The woman was SO H

Acts 12:1-19 Our story comes from a book, or part, of the Bible called Acts. That name is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” The word "Apostle" is another word to describe a helper of Jesus. Our story is about a man named Peter and how his friends didn’t give up on him. We call this being faithful . Peter was a very good friend of Jesus. Peter and Jesus spent a lot of time together. After Jesus died and came back, Jesus told Peter to tell everyone about Him. So that’s what Peter did! One day, Peter was thrown in jail for telling people that Jesus is alive and wants to be their friend forever. Jail is not a fun place, and Peter did not want to be there. When Peter’s friends heard that he was in jail, they knew they had to do something to help him. Peter’s friends began praying and asking God to help Peter. Peter’s friends kept praying and praying and praying for him. It was hard to keep praying when nothing was happening, but they didn’t give up. They

Jesus Gives You the Power to Show Goodness

James 1:17 Our story comes from the Bible. It is found in the book, or part, of the Bible called James. James was the little brother of Jesus. James tells us that every good and perfect gift comes from God. It’s true! Every good and perfect thing comes from God. Think about some good things, like a big slice of cold, juicy watermelon, or little puppies that are so cute and cuddly, or splashing in the water at the beach during the hot summer. All those things are good, and if it’s good, it’s from God. God gave us an amazing world filled with good things for us to enjoy. He could have made it totally boring, with one tree and just a lot of dirt. But He didn’t do that! Out of His goodness He gave us lots of big, beautiful trees and oceans and rainbows and little bunnies and giant elephants and lots of yummy foods! Everywhere we look we find good things. And if it’s good , it’s from God! Think about all the people who love you: parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents,
