Nehemiah 1–3 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Nehemiah (pronounced “nee-ah-MY-ah”). The name Nehemiah means “God comforts.” We begin with a city wall. A very, very BIG wall that went ALL the way around the city of Jerusalem. The wall was built to keep people safe. But eventually, there were so many holes in the wall that it did NOT keep the people safe anymore. The wall needed to be fixed. When a man named Nehemiah heard about the wall with holes in it. Hearing about the broken wall made Nehemiah very sad. He wanted to do something about the broken wall. So, Nehemiah prayed to God and decided to fix it! But he was just one person, and the wall was really, really big! Do you think Nehemiah could fix it all by himself? No! Nehemiah needed help. Well, guess what? LOTS of people came to help fix the wall! God is good! All of the people who came to help worked on different parts of the wall. Some people worked on a gate. Some people worked on a tower. Some people worked

Exodus 17:8-13 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Genesis. The word genesis means “the beginning.” We begin with a man who was thankful for the friends and family God gave him. Do you have a brother or a sister? Well, this man was thankful because when he needed it most, his brother was there to help. The man’s name was Moses. And Moses had a brother named Aaron. Moses and Aaron were part of God’s army, called the Israelites. One day, the Israelites were attacked by some mean people, called the Amalekites. Oh no! But the Israelites were God’s army, and Moses knew that God would help them! Earlier, God had given Moses a staff—like a big stick—to help Moses lead the people. So, during the battle, Moses stood up on a big rock and held up God’s staff. Moses held up God’s staff, and the Israelites started winning the battle! “Yay!” But then Moses’ arms were getting tired! When Moses put his arms down, God’s army started LOSING! “Oh No!” But when Moses held his arms up, the

1 Kings 17:7-16 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called First Kings (1 Kings). It is the first of two books in the Bible that tell us about the kings of Israel. We begin with a man named Elijah who was SUPER hungry. Elijah wanted some food. Elijah was so hungry but there was no food anywhere. God told Elijah to go to a woman that God had chosen, and she would give him food. So, Elijah went to find her! And he did! Elijah went right up to the woman and said, “Can I have a drink of water, please? And a piece of bread? I am very hungry.” But the woman didn’t have any extra food to share with Elijah. The woman told Elijah she only had enough oil and enough flour to make one more meal for her and her son. Then they would have no more food left. But Elijah told the woman. “Don’t worry. God will help you and give you all the flour and the oil that you need.” So, the woman went home and she used the flour and the oil to make bread.  First, she poured the flour into a bowl. Then, s

James 1:17; Genesis 1 Our true story is found in a part of the Bible called Genesis. The word genesis means “the beginning.” Our true story also comes from a part of the Bible written by a man named James. James loved God and told people what God wanted them to know. We begin in the very beginning when God made a super-amazing gift! Do you like gifts? I do, too! And when someone who loves you MAKES a gift for you, it’s even more special. Well, in the beginning, God made something really big and really amazing. Can you guess what it is? God made the WHOLE world! WOW! God made the Earth for all of us to live on because God is good. But God didn’t stop there. God made even more. God made flowers! God made tall flowers and short flowers, yellow flowers, and blue flowers. God made so many different and beautiful flowers for us to enjoy. When we look around and see all the different flowers God made, we can say, “God is good.” But that’s not all God made. God also made yummy fruits, like ora
