Image
Matthew 26:20-30; 27:1-2; 28:1-7 Our story comes from a book of the Bible called Matthew. Matthew was one of the helpers of Jesus. Jesus was God's Son. Jesus came to earth because He loves us so much. When Jesus came, He knew something sad would have to happen so that we all could be glad. One night, Jesus tried to tell His friends about something that was going to happen. He sat them all down and had dinner with them. He told them that He was going away. But then Jesus promised to come back! That night, some mean people came and took Jesus away. They hurt Jesus. They put Him on a cross and He died. It was so, so sad. They put Jesus’ body in a tomb with a big stone in front of it. Three days went by. Then some of Jesus' friends went to the tomb. They saw that the big stone had been rolled away. They started crying. They thought someone had taken Jesus, but then all of a sudden, there was Jesus! He was alive! Jesus had done somet

Matthew 21:1-11, 15-16 Our story comes from a book of the Bible called Matthew. Matthew was one of the helpers of Jesus. The Bible tells us that Jesus and His helpers were going to the city of Jerusalem. It was time to celebrate the special time of the year called Passover. On the way to Jerusalem, they passed by a village. Jesus said to two of His helpers, “Go to the village up ahead." "When you get there, you will find a donkey tied up. Her colt, or young donkey will be tied up next to her. Untie the donkey and her colt. Bring them back to me. If anyone asks what you are doing, tell him the Lord needs these donkeys. The owner will say that it is all right to bring them." Jesus’ two helpers found the donkey and her colt, just as Jesus had said. They brought them back to Jesus. Clip, clop, clip, clop, went the donkeys as they walked along. Jesus’ helpers took off their coats and laid them over the colt’s back. It made the donkey softer for J

Matthew 9:9-10 Our story comes from the Bible. It is found in the book, or part, of the Bible called Matthew. Matthew was one of the special helpers of Jesus. Jesus lived in Capernaum, a fishing town by a lake called the Sea of Galilee. When Jesus began calling people to follow Him, He began by calling some fishermen by the Sea of Galilee. He called the brothers Peter and Andrew. He also called the brothers James and John. He called them all to leave their nets and follow Him. They followed Jesus. That means fishermen can follow Jesus. Another time, Jesus was walking through town and He passed a man named Matthew. Matthew was a tax collector for his job. Tax collectors would go to people and take money from them to help pay for things in the city. Most of the time, the tax collectors took too much money and kept it for themselves. That’s why no one liked tax collectors. But Jesus loves everyone. Jesus went up to Matthew, just like He did with the fishermen, and He said

Matthew 4:18-22 Our story comes from the Bible. It is found in the book, or part, of the Bible called Matthew. Matthew was one of the special helpers of Jesus. Peter and Andrew were brothers. Peter and Andrew were fishermen. Every day they would get up early, take a big net down to the water, and throw it in. Once, Peter and Andrew threw their net into the water and waited to see if any fish would swim in it. While they were waiting, Jesus came walking by. Jesus called out to Peter and Andrew and said, “Come follow Me!” Peter and Andrew left their fishing net and went to where Jesus was standing. Jesus talked to them about how every day they came to catch fish, but Jesus wanted them to follow Him and help tell people about how much God loves them. It would be like they were catching people for God. Peter and Andrew decided to follow Jesus. But Jesus didn’t stop there. When He saw two more fishermen brothers named James and John. He called out to them and said, “Come

Matthew 3:3-4, 11, 13-15 Our story comes from the Bible. It is found in a part, or book, of the Bible called Matthew. Matthew was one of the special helpers of Jesus. Because God had told the people He was sending someone very special, the people watched and waited for someone very special to come. When God was ready to show His Son, Jesus, to the people, God sent someone else first to tell all the people to get ready because Jesus was coming. God sent someone to tell the people that Jesus was on His way and that Jesus would be the greatest. The man God set to tell the people that Jesus was coming was named John. People called him John the Baptist, because he would baptize people in water. Since John really loved God, God told John it was his job to go tell the people that Jesus was coming and that Jesus would be the greatest. When God gave John this special job, John did exactly what God said. He started telling all the people about God’s Son, Jesus, and how very specia
