Jesus and the Children

Image
Luke 18:15-16 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Luke. Luke loved Jesus and wanted others to know and love Jesus, too. And the word gospel means “good news!” Our true story is about some kids who wanted to meet someone very special. We begin with Jesus. We know that Jesus is very special. Jesus is God’s Son, and He came to do AMAZING things. Jesus and His friends, the disciples, did lots of important work. They taught people about God, and they helped people. Wherever they went, there was always a crowd of people who wanted to learn things from Jesus and get help from Jesus. EVERYONE wanted to be near Jesus. One day when Jesus was teaching, many, many people were around Him wanting to meet Him and get close to Him.  There were lots of adults. Moms and dads and aunts and uncles. There were farmers and doctors and carpenters and fishermen. And there were children! The children knew Jesus was special and they wanted to see Jesus, too!  But Jesus’ disciples

Luke 19:1-10 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Luke. Luke loved Jesus and wanted others to know and love Jesus, too. And the word gospel means “good news!” We begin with a man named Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus was a tax collector. His job was to collect money from everyone in town. And nobody liked Zacchaeus. Why? Well, let's see . . . Let’s say you have five dollars. Count with me: one, two, three, four, five. And you owe three dollars for taxes. Count with me: one, two, three. If Zacchaeus took three dollars, how many do we have left? Two dollars. But Zacchaeus would take MORE than three dollars. He might take two more dollars. So, Zacchaeus would take ALL FIVE of your dollars. That’s what Zacchaeus did day after day. He took MORE money than he was supposed to and kept it for himself! It was wrong. And it made everyone really mad at Zacchaeus. Nobody wanted to be his friend. But one day, something wonderful happened. Jesus came to town! Everyone, includi

The Unloved Woman

John 8:2-11 Our true story is from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of John. John was one of the disciples of Jesus. That means Jesus was his teacher. And the word gospel means “good news!” We begin with a woman who was very sad. She had made a lot of bad choices and now no one wanted to be her friend.  Can you imagine not having any friends to do things with?  Nobody to play blocks with?  Nobody to play with at the park?  How would it make you feel to do all those things all by yourself with no friends? It would make me sad. This woman was very sad, too.   One day, Jesus was teaching a lot of people.  Suddenly, some people who didn’t like the woman brought her to Jesus. They said, “Jesus, this woman has done bad things!” Wow! They were definitely not this woman’s friend. And they thought Jesus wouldn’t want to be her friend. But, wait. We know Jesus is special, and Jesus loves everyone. Do you think Jesus loves this woman and wants to be her friend? Yes! Jesus did love her and wa

The Man with Leprosy

Matthew 8:1-3; Mark 1:40-45 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew loved Jesus and told people about Him. That means Jesus was his teacher. Our true story also comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Mark. Mark loved Jesus and told people about Him. That means Jesus was his teacher. And the word “Gospel” means “good news!” Our true story is about someone who had A LOT of boo-boos. This man was sick with something called leprosy. He had spots all over his body and there were no doctors or medicine that could help him get better. People couldn’t be near the man because he was sick. This man had to live all by himself without any family or friends.  Having all these boo-boos made this man very sad. One day, a very special man came to town. It was Jesus! Jesus is God’s Son, and Jesus can do amazing things.  The sick man knelt in front of Jesus . . . and said that he knew Jesus could make him all better if He wanted to.  And, do you t
