Peter and John Gave the Gift of Jesus

Image
Acts 3:1-11, 16 Our story comes from a book of the Bible called Acts. That name is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” The word "Apostle" is another word for the helpers of Jesus. Peter and John were friends of Jesus. One day, they walked to the temple. It was the time in the afternoon to go to pray. They wanted to worship God, just like we do at church. When they were near the temple, they saw a man lying on a mat on the ground. The man was lame. He couldn’t stand, walk, or hop like we can. He had been that way since he was born. Every day someone carried the man to the temple gate. The man lay on his mat and begged for money from the people going to the temple. He couldn’t work for money because his legs wouldn’t work. People who went to the temple to worship God gave him money to buy food. When the lame man saw Peter and John, he asked them for money. Peter and John stopped and looked straight at the man. They wanted to help him. Peter said, “I don’t

Acts 16:16-34 Our story comes from a book of the Bible called Acts. That name is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” The word "Apostle" is another word to describe a helper of Jesus. Our Bible story is about two men named Paul and Silas. Both Paul and Silas loved Jesus. They went from one town to another telling about Jesus’ love. Traveling with Paul and Silas were two friends who also loved Jesus. The friends were a man named Luke and a young man named Timothy. They went to a town called Philippi (pronounced “fi-LIP-eye”). Paul and Silas told the people about Jesus. They met a slave girl who was controlled by an evil spirit. Paul wanted the girl to be well. Paul prayed and asked Jesus to help the girl, and Jesus did! The evil spirit left the girl and she was well! But some people didn’t like what Paul and Silas were doing. They told the authorities that Paul and Silas were bothering the people. They had Paul and Silas beaten and put in jail. P

Acts 9:1-20; 13:9 Our story comes from a book of the Bible called Acts. That name is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” The word "Apostle" is another word to describe a helper of Jesus. The Bible tells us that a man named Saul. Saul did not think that Jesus was God's Son. And Saul did not like the followers of Jesus. Saul traveled from Jerusalem to Damascus. He wanted to arrest the people who believed in Jesus and take them back to Jerusalem to be punished. When Saul came near the city of Damascus, a light from heaven flashed around him and he fell to the ground. Saul heard a voice. It said, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" Saul asked, "Who are you, Lord?" The voice said, "I am Jesus, he One you are persecuting. Get up and go into the city. You will be told what you must do." The men traveling with Saul could not talk. They heard the sound, but did not see anyone. Saul got up, but when he opened his eyes he

Acts 2:42-47 Our story comes from a book of the Bible called Acts. That name is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” The word "Apostle" is another word to describe a helper of Jesus. The Bible tells us that after Jesus went up to heaven, His friends went back to the city of Jerusalem. The friends often met in a room to pray. Other people who believed in Jesus met there too. During the day, the people who loved Jesus worked at their jobs. They needed water, food, and a place to live just as we do. Someone had to bake bread. Others carried water. Some built things out of wood. At the end of the day, the people who loved Jesus met in a house to worship God. They wanted to show Him how much they loved Him. The people remembered Jesus and all the good things He did. Jesus’ friends taught them about Jesus. The people remembered how much Jesus loved them. They prayed to God. They thanked God for being so good to them. They asked God to be with them and to help
