Jesus Loved His Friends

Luke 10:38-42; John 12:1-3 Our story comes from the Bible. It is in a part, or book, of the Bible called Luke. Luke loved Jesus and wrote about Him so that others could know Jesus and love Jesus, too. Our story also comes from book in the Bible called John. John was one of the special helpers of Jesus. The Bible tells us about three friends of Jesus. Lazarus was one friend. He had two sisters who were friends of Jesus, too. One was named Martha. The other sister was Mary. One day, Jesus visited His friend at their house. Martha, Mary and Lazarus were happy to see Him. They all sat down and talked. Soon, Martha started to get food ready for dinner. She wanted to be sure that Jesus had all the things He needed. So, she cooked, baked, and began putting things on the table. Martha wanted Mary to help her with the food. Mark 2:1-12 Our story comes from the Bible. It is in the part, or book, of the Bible called Mark. The Bible tells us about a man who couldn't walk or run. All the man could do was lie on a mat. The man did have four good friends. The four good friends helped the man get food to eat. They spent time with him so he wasn't lonely. But they couldn't help him walk. One day, the four friends heard that Jesus was in Capernaum ("kuh-PURR-ne-um"). That was the name of the town where they lived. They knew that Jesus could help their friend walk. The four friends put the man on his mat. They carried the man to the house where Jesus was staying. They were surprised when they got to the house. So many people had come to listen to Jesus! 2 Kings 5:1-14 Our story comes from the Bible. It is found in the book, or part, of the Bible called “Second Kings” (2 Kings). It is the second book in the Bible that tells about the kings of Israel and Judah. The Bible tells us about a little girl who lived long ago. She was from Israel. The girl was a servant for a man named Naaman and his wife. A servant is someone who works for a person. Naaman was a very important man. He worked for the king of Aram. Naaman was in charge of the soldiers in the king's army. But Naaman was not very happy. That's because he had a sickness called leprosy. His skin was covered with big white spots and sores. 2 Kings 4:1-7 Our story comes from the Bible. It is found in the book, or part, of the Bible called “Second Kings” (2 Kings). It is the second book in the Bible that tells about the kings of Israel and Judah. The Bible tells us about a man named Elisha and a woman who needed help. The woman's husband had died. He owed money to someone. That man was coming to take away her two boys. They would become his slaves. She needed someone to help her. So, the woman went to see Elisha, a man who loved God. She said, "You knew my husband. He loved God. But I don't have money to pay what he owed. What can I do?" Elisha asked, "What do you have in your house?” The woman sighed. "All I have is a small jar of olive oil." Elisha told her, "Go to your neighbors. Ask to borrow their empty jars. Get as many as you can. Then go inside your house with your two boys and shut the door. Pour oil from your small jar into all the empty jars
