God Rested

Genesis 1:1–2:3 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Genesis. The word genesis means “the beginning.” Can you remember all the things God made? Let’s count off the days with me.   On day one . . .  God made light and dark.  On day two . . .  God made the sky over the water.  On day three . . .  God made land, plants, and sea. And on day four . . .  God made the sun . . . and the moon and stars.  On day five . . .  God made fish and birds!  And on day six . . .  God made animals.  Also on day six, God made His most SPECIAL creation.  PEOPLE! Do you know what God did AFTER He made everything?  On day seven . . .  God stopped! God rested. God stopped to look around at all the beautiful things He had made.  God saw the sun, the land, the plants, the sea, the birds, the fish, and the animals. God saw His most fantastic, amazing creation. . . people. And on day seven. . .  God rested. God saw everything He had made and what did He say? God said, “That’s VERY good.”  God made

Genesis 1:24-31 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Genesis. The word genesis means “the beginning.” We’ve learned a LOT so far.  We know that on day one . . . God made light and dark.  On day two . . . God made sky over the water.  On day three . . . God made land, plants, and sea. And on day four . . . God made the sun . . . and the moon and stars. And on day five, God made fish and birds. But God wasn’t done! On day six, God made . . . all the animals! God made giraffes, elephants, penguins, bunnies, cows, snakes, sheep, zebras, sloths, llamas, and so many more. When you look at all the animals God made, you see just how loving and creative God is! But God still wasn’t done. Because on day six, God also made His most SPECIAL creation. On day six, God created . . . PEOPLE! God made the first man, named Adam . . . . . and the first woman, named Eve. God told Adam and Eve to eat the fruit from the trees in the garden and to watch over all the animals. God saw ALL that

Genesis 1:20-21 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Genesis. So when did God make the fish and birds? On day five! On day five, God made everything that swims in the sea: dolphins and jellyfish, clownfish and octopus, and giant whales!  Then God made birds: eagles and bluebirds, cockatoos and hummingbirds, owls and geese! God made birds to fly above the land. Birds are amazing with their wonderful colors and shapes and wings. All different, but all so special! When God saw what he had made, God said, “That’s good!” Okay, so let’s remember all the things God made that we know so far. Count them on your fingers with me. On day one, God made light and dark. On day two, God made sky ove

Genesis 1:9-19 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Genesis. The word genesis means “the beginning.” We are talking about all the WONDERFUL things God made! We know that God made the WHOLE world and everything in it. Everything. In the whole wide world. We can read about all God made in the Bible! And remember, if it’s in the Bible, it is true. On day one . . . God made the light and dark.  And on day two . . . God made the sky above the water. But was God done yet? Nooo! On day three . . . God made land. And God gathered the waters together and called them “seas.” Then, God created things to start growing on the land. God made plants to grow on the land. He said, “Let the land grow plants. Let each plant make its own seeds.” That is what happened. There were plants. God created fruit trees . . . . . . and grass and flowers. God saw what He had made and God said, “That’s good!” But God wasn’t done! On day four, God made a light for the day and a light for the night. Hmm
