Image
Acts 16:16-36 Our story comes from a book of the Bible called Acts. That name is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” The word "Apostle" is another word to describe a helper of Jesus. Our Bible story is about two men named Paul and Silas. Both Paul and Silas loved Jesus. They went from one town to another telling about Jesus’ love. Traveling with Paul and Silas were two friends who also loved Jesus. The friends were a man named Luke and a young man named Timothy. They went to a town called Philippi (pronounced “fi-LIP-eye”). Paul and Silas told the people about Jesus. They met a slave girl who was controlled by an evil spirit. Paul wanted the girl to be well. Paul prayed and asked Jesus to help the girl, and Jesus did! The evil spirit left the girl and she was well! But some people didn’t like what Paul and Silas were doing. They told the authorities that Paul and Silas were bothering the people. They had Paul and Silas beaten and put in jail. P

Acts 8:4-5, 26-39 Our story comes from a book of the Bible called Acts. That name is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” The word "Apostle" is another word for the helpers of Jesus. The Bible tells us about people who loved Jesus. This is Philip. Philip loved Jesus. He traveled from place to place telling others about Jesus. One day, and angel of the Lord spoke to Philip. The angel said, "Go to the road outside the city of Jerusalem. It is the road that goes to the desert, where it is hot and dry." Luke 23:46, 50-56; 24:1-12, 35-44 Our story comes from a book in the Bible called Luke. The Bible tells us that there were some people who did not like Jesus. They did not want Jesus to tell people that He was the Son of God. So they did a very sad thing. They had Jesus arrested and then had Him put on a cross. Later that day, Jesus died. Jesus’ friends were very sad. One of Jesus’ friends, named Joseph, took Jesus’ body down from the cross and wrapped it in white cloths. Then he laid Him in a cave. A big rock was used as a door to the cave. Some women, who were also Jesus’ friends, saw where Joseph had put Jesus’ body. They went home to get spices and perfume ready to put on Jesus’ body. Jesus died on a Friday. The next day was Saturday. The day after that was Sunday. That was the day the women could go put the perfume and spices on Jesus’ body. The women went back to the cave. When they got there, the women were surprised! The big rock had been r

Matthew 21:1-11 Our story comes from a book of the Bible called Matthew. Matthew was one of the helpers of Jesus. The Bible tells us that Jesus and His helpers were going to the city of Jerusalem. It was time to celebrate the special time of the year called Passover. On the way to Jerusalem, they passed by a village. Jesus said to two of His helpers, “Go to the village up ahead." "When you get there, you will find a donkey tied up. Her colt, or young donkey will be tied up next to her. Untie the donkey and her colt. Bring them back to me. If anyone asks what you are doing, tell him the Lord needs these donkeys. The owner will say that it is all right to bring them." Jesus’ two helpers found the donkey and her colt, just as Jesus had said. They brought them back to Jesus. Clip, clop, clip, clop, went the donkeys as they walked along. Jesus’ helpers took off their coats and laid them over the colt’s back. It made the donkey softer for Jesus to
