Well, David danced because he was celebrating! Do you know WHO he was celebrating? God! David danced as a way to praise and thank God. David knew that God made him to do BIG things! Even as the king, David remembered his big promise to his best friend Jonathan: that he would always take care of all of Jonathan’s family.  every day. 1 Samuel 17:1-50 Our true story comes from the Bible. It is found in a part of the Bible called First Samuel (1 Samuel). It is the first of two books in the Bible named after a man named Samuel. Our true story starts with a Big. Mean. GIANT! His name was Goliath! Can you guess who Goliath wanted to do mean things to? God’s people, the Israelites! Every day, Goliath would tease the Israelites. Saying, “Nah, nah, nah, nah! Who’s going to challenge me?” But the Israelites were too scared. No one was brave enough to challenge the giant. That is, until a boy named David came along. David brought food from home to his older brothers.  David was there when the giant came out to tease them again. And David thought surely one of the Israelite soldiers would challenge Goliath, but they were all afraid of him. So, David said, “I’ll do it!” Everyone was SO surprised. They were surprised because David was NOT a soldier. How could he challenge the giant?  But David knew that God would help him be st

1 Samuel 17:34-37 Our true story comes from the Bible. It is found in a part of the Bible called First Samuel (1 Samuel). It is the first of two books in the Bible named after a man named Samuel. Our true Bible story is about someone who did a really big thing! His name was David. David was a shepherd who took care of his father’s sheep. David made sure the sheep had green grass to eat and clean water to drink. He watched over them and kept them safe. But one day, while the sheep were asleep, a BIG lion came near them. The lion snuck up to the sheep and took one away in his mouth. OH, NO! What do you think David did? David stood up! He knew he needed to rescue the sheep, but that was a big job. He was far away in a really big field all alone. But David knew he wasn’t really alone. God was with him and made him to do big things. That gave David the courage to save the sheep. God helped David be strong and brave. David ran to the lion and saved the sheep! The Bible teaches us that we can

We begin with a man named Samuel. God told Samuel that he would pick the next king! So Samuel went to a certain house because one of the brothers there would be the next king.  Now if you were looking for a king, you’d want someone really smart, right?  Or someone strong . . .  Or someone older with experience . . .  Samuel knew that choosing the next king was a big job. He also knew that God made him to do big things. He trusted that God would help him find the next king. So, Samuel looked at ALL seven of the brothers. But God didn’t choose any of them. Samuel asked Jesse, the father of the house, if there were any more brothers.  Jesse said there was one more brother who wasn’t home, yet. “Send for him,” Samuel said. “We will not sit down until he comes.” So, the brothers waited and waited an
