Matthew 8:23-27 Our true story comes from the Bible. It is found in the book, or part, of the Bible called Matthew. Matthew was one of the special helpers of Jesus. Jesus was traveling with His disciples. A disciple is a student. Jesus was their teacher. Jesus was also their friend. Jesus and His disciples were out in a boat. Suddenly it started to rain. It rained harder and harder. And the wind began to blow. And the boat began to rock. The boat leaned to one side and then it leaned to the other side. And then there were flashes of lightning and rumbles of thunder. The disciples became so afraid! They didn’t know what to do. But then they knew: They needed Jesus! They didn’t know what He could do, but they knew they could go to Him for anything. So, they did. Jesus was asleep in the boat. The disciples said, “Jesus, wake up! Save us from the storm. We are SO afraid!” Jesus told them, “Don’t be afraid.” And then Jesus told the wind and the waves to STOP!

John 9:1-12 Our story comes from the Bible. It is in a part, or book, of the Bible called John. John was one of the special helpers of Jesus. One day, as Jesus and His friends were walking, Jesus saw a man who could not see. The man was born blind. Jesus knew what the man really needed. First, Jesus spit on the ground. Then He mixed it with the dirt and made mud! Then He put it on the man’s eyes. Then Jesus told him to go wash it off. And when he finished washing, the most amazing thing happened. Do you know what it was?” The man opened his eyes and HE COULD SEE! No one else in all the world could have done that. Only Jesus could have healed him! Because Jesus can do things no one else can do. We need Him, and He loves us enough to help us! The blind man needed Jesus. We need Jesus. Everyone needs Jesus. Mark 2:1-12 Our true story comes from the Bible. It is in the part, or book, of the Bible called Mark. Mark loved Jesus and told people about Him. The Bible tells us about a man whose legs didn't work. He couldn't walk or run. All the man could do was lie on a mat. But the man wasn't alone. He had four good friends. The friends helped the man get food to eat. They spent time with him so he wasn't lonely. But they couldn't help him walk. One day, the four friends heard that Jesus was in Capernaum ("kuh-PURR-ne-um"). That was the name of the town where they lived. They knew that Jesus could help their friend walk. The four friends put the man on his mat. They carried the man to the house where Jesus was teaching. They were surprised when they got to the house. So many people had come to listen to Jesus!
