The Blind Man Needed Jesus

John 9:1-12

Our story comes from the Bible. It is in a part, or book, of the Bible called John. John was one of the special helpers of Jesus.

One day, as Jesus and His friends were walking, Jesus saw a man who could not see.

The man was born blind. Jesus knew what the man really needed.

First, Jesus spit on the ground. Then He mixed it with the dirt and made mud! Then He put it on the man’s eyes.

Then Jesus told him to go wash it off. And when he finished washing, the most amazing thing happened. Do you know what it was?”

The man opened his eyes and HE COULD SEE!

No one else in all the world could have done that. Only Jesus could have healed him! Because Jesus can do things no one else can do. We need Him, and He loves us enough to help us!

The blind man needed Jesus. We need Jesus. Everyone needs Jesus.

Bible Paraphrase: You are everything I need.  Psalm 119:57, NIrV

Text Truth: Everyone needs Jesus.

Family Devotional

His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” — John 9:8

Sometimes people get left out when they’re not like everyone else, like the blind man in our Bible story. He couldn’t see to work, so he didn’t have any money. He didn’t have a lot of friends, because he had to beg for money all of the time. That’s sad, isn’t it?

Jesus knows that everyone needs Him, no matter who they are. That’s why Jesus was a good friend to the blind man. Jesus did something only He can do. He made the blind man see! When Jesus did that, He showed all the other people that Jesus is for everyone. Everyone needs Jesus.

You are everything I need Psalm 119:57

When we have Jesus, we have a friend forever who is always with us, can do anything, and is totally for us. With your family, make a list of people who need Jesus. You can think of anyone because everyone needs Jesus. But try to think of someone who maybe gets left out sometimes or doesn't have a lot of friends.

Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. Thank God for making people who help one another. Thank god for sending Jesus to be everyone's friend forever. Ask God to help you all remember those who need Jesus. Read the list your family made. Thank God for every person on your list. Acknowledge that when we are a good friend to them, it helps them believe Jesus will be their good friend, too.
