When Jesus Is Your Friend Forever

Image
John 3:16 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Mark. Mark loved Jesus and told people about Him. We have been learning SO much about how Jesus can help us do everything! And today, we have another thing Jesus can help us do! When we first started talking about how Jesus can help us do everything, we learned that God loves us so much He gave us His Son, Jesus, to be our friend forever! When Jesus is your friend forever, Jesus can help you do everything! Jesus can help you choose . . . love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. When Jesus is your friend forever, He gives you power. It’s like big, strong muscle power! He can help you have the power of SELF-CONTROL. That means you have the power to choose to do the right thing! Let’s say you have a friend over to play outside, and they see your brand-new scooter. They tell you they want to play with it. Should you choose GOODNESS and share your scooter or not share your scoot

Jesus and the Little Children

Mark 10:13-16 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Mark. Mark loved Jesus and told people about Him. We are going to learn about gentleness. Do you know what GENTLENESS is? GENTLENESS is being soft and kind with our words and actions, so we don’t hurt people. Our true story begins with Jesus teaching a lot of people. It was VERY exciting! Everyone wanted to talk to Jesus. And listen to Jesus. And get as close as they could to Jesus. Lots of parents even brought their children to see Jesus! They wanted their children to be so close that Jesus could touch them. But as the little children went up to see Jesus, some of Jesus’ friends told the little children to . . . go away! Oh, no! That’s not GENTLENESS! When Jesus heard that, Jesus chose GENTLENESS and told the disciples, “Let the little children come to me.” Jesus let the children come right up to Him. Jesus probably hugged them and was kind to them and talked to them and listened to them. Are all of those things GENTLE

David and Jonathan

1 Samuel 20; 2 Samuel 9 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called First Samuel (1 Samuel) and Second Samuel (2 Samuel). The two books are named after a man named Samuel, who loved God and told people what God wanted them to know. We are going to learn about FAITHFULNESS. Faithfulness is a big word, right? Faithfulness is doing what you say you will do. It’s like a high-five from a friend that says, “I’m going to be your friend, no matter what!” We begin with two good friends named David and Jonathan. One day, these two good friends had to say goodbye to each other. It was very hard. They promised to always be friends. David and Jonathan were such good friends, but then, they had to say goodbye. Later, David became the king, and he remembered his promise that he would always be a good friend to Jonathan. King David wanted to be FAITHFUL and do what he said he would do. So, King David decided to look for anyone in Jonathan’s family whom he could show kindness to.  Now, this wa

Matthew 5:14-16  Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew was a disciple of Jesus. That means Jesus was his teacher. And the word gospel means “good news!” We begin with Jesus talking to a lot of people. Jesus told them He wanted them to show God’s GOODNESS to everyone. Jesus really wanted the people to understand what it meant to show God’s GOODNESS so Jesus told them about a special light. What does a candle do? A candle burns bright and shines light in a dark room. Jesus said that when we choose GOODNESS it’s like we are shining a light that shows everyone God is good.  We choose GOODNESS when we help others. Helping shines a light that says God is good! We choose GOODNESS when we share with others. Sharing shines a light that says God is good! We choose GOODNESS when we say kind words to others. Kind words shine a light that says God is good! But when we do mean things . . . or don’t share . . . or don’t help, Jesus said it’s like we’re co

Luke 10:25-37  Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Luke. Luke loved Jesus and wanted others to know and love Jesus, too. And the word gospel means “good news!” Jesus sometimes taught people using special teaching stories called parables. Jesus told a story about a man who chose KINDNESS. But His story begins with another man. This man was walking down a road one day, on his way to the city of Jericho. While the man was walking, some men jumped on him, hurt him badly, and took his money! The poor man had so many boo-boos. He really needed help. Before long, someone came walking by. e needed help. But the person did not stop to help. Oh, no! He just walked right by the hurt man. That is not kindness. Then another man came walking along. Oh, no! That person did not stop to help, either. He just walked right by the hurt man. That is not kindness. Then a third man came by. This man was a Samaritan. Now, I really don’t think this man will stop and help because
