Elisha’s Room

2 Kings 4:8-17 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Second Kings or 2 Kings. It is the second book in the Bible that tells about the kings of Israel. We begin with a man named Elisha. Elisha was God’s friend and traveled to this town to do God’s work.  One day, he met a woman who wanted to help him! She thought he might be hungry, so she invited him to dinner with her and her husband. Elisha was thankful for the help, and he ate dinner with them. Then, whenever Elisha was in town, he ate dinner at their house! One day, they had an idea of how they could help Elisha even more. The woman and her husband decided to build a room for Elisha on the roof of their house so he would have a place to stay!  Once they built the room, they had to decide what to put in it. Let’s see, Elisha will need something to sleep on. What should it be? Should he sleep on a trampoline? Or should he sleep on a bed? A bed! That’s right.  Now, what if Elisha needs a place to sit and write a letter?

Exodus 16 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Exodus. The word “exodus” means to leave or go away from. We begin in a desert. Have you ever been to a desert? This one was hot and sandy. God’s people, the Israelites, were in the desert. And they were NOT happy about it. They were hot and sweaty and HUNGRY. God saw that they were hungry. So, He told them, "I will send food for you. And when you wake up, you can eat it." That night, while everyone slept, God sent food for them. Have you ever heard of something so amazing! When the people woke up, they were so excited! God gave us food for today! Yay! Thank You, God! They were so thankful.  But then . . . Uh-oh! Instead of being happy and grateful, they were worried! Do you want to know why they were worried? The Israelites were worried that God wouldn’t give them food again the next day. And they went to bed worried. But when the Israelites woke up, there was bread on the ground again. Yay! God gave us food toda

1 Samuel 18:1-4 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Second Samuel (2 Samuel). The man Samuel loved God and told the people what God wanted them to know. We begin with David. David was a shepherd who took care of sheep.  Then, there was Jonathan. Jonathan was the son of the king and lived in a palace. David and Jonathan were very good friends. They loved spending time together. They ate together. They walked together. They were good, good friends.  One time, Jonathan was so thankful for his friend, David, that he took off his coat and gave it to him! Then Jonathan gave David his sword and his bow. He even gave David his belt. Wow! David was so thankful that God gave him Jonathan to be his good friend!  What can WE do to show God we are thankful for? We can share things with them, like our toys.  We can share rides on our scooters.  We can even share food from our garden. We can share things with our friends to show we are thankful. What else can we do? We can use our mo

Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz

Ruth 1-2 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible Ruth. And that part of the Bible is named after someone in our story. We begin with a woman named Naomi.  Naomi was very sad because she didn’t have any family.  Naomi's husband and sons had died, and she was all alone. So, she decided to go back to the town where she grew up.  But she wasn’t really alone! Ruth was there. Ruth said, "I’ll go with you Naomi! I’ll be your family!" Wow! That’s amazing. God gave Naomi family to help her. Thank You, God. So, Naomi and Ruth walked together all the way to the town where Naomi used to live.  When they got there, Naomi and Ruth were hungry. But they didn’t have any money to buy food. So, Ruth went to find something for them to eat. Not far from where they lived, a man named Boaz had people working in his fields, gathering all the grain. Boaz was a distant relative of Naomi. His fields were like big gardens, and the workers worked very fast.  But as the people worked, they woul
