Jesus Teaches at the Temple

Luke 2:41-50 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Luke. Luke loved Jesus and wanted others to know and love Jesus, too. And the word gospel means “good news!” Our true story is about someone AMAZING. His name is Jesus! Have you ever heard of Jesus? We just celebrated His birthday at Christmas, but in this story, Jesus was twelve years old. Can you count to twelve with me? Ready? GO! One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve! Good counting! Jesus was twelve years old when He traveled with Mary and Joseph to a big celebration in the city of Jerusalem.  It was so much fun! When the celebration was over, everyone went back home. But Jesus stayed in Jerusalem.  I wonder where Jesus was. If I was a twelve-year-old kid, I might be by the animals.  Let’s make some animal sounds. Can you say ‘baaa’ like a sheep? What about chickens? Maybe Jesus was chasing chickens? Can you cluck like a chicken?  That was fun! But Jesus wasn’t by the

Matthew 2:1-2, 9-11 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew was a disciple of Jesus. That means Jesus was his teacher. And the word gospel means “good news!” We are celebrating a very special day because we’re celebrating someone very special! Do you know who that very special someone is? JESUS! We’re celebrating Jesus! And Jesus is special because Jesus is God’s Son! We have been learning all about the true story of Christmas right from the Bible. And now, I’ll tell you one more part of the Christmas story. After Jesus was born, God put something special in the sky. Do you think God put a teddy bear in the sky? No, it wasn’t a teddy bear. Do you think God put a pillow in the sky? No, it wasn’t a pillow either. Do you think God put a special star in the sky? Yes!  When God put that special star in the sky, some Wise Men saw it. The Wise Men knew the star was special, and that they should follow it. So, they did! The Wise Men followed the spec

Luke 2:8-22 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Luke. Luke loved Jesus and wanted others to know and love Jesus, too. And the word gospel means “good news!” We begin on the night Jesus was born. You see, Baby Jesus was born in a stable where animals live. After He was born, Mary wrapped Baby Jesus in cloth and laid Him in a manger. Mary and Joseph knew Jesus was special because Jesus is God’s Son. Now on the night Jesus was born, there were shepherds taking care of their sheep in a field nearby. What sound do sheep make? “Baaa. Baaa. Baaa.” The shepherds didn’t know it, but on that very night, while they were taking care of their sheep, Jesus, God’s Son, was born! Now, Jesus, God’s Son, was born and God was about to make a BIG announcement to the shepherds, right out in the field while they watched their sheep. The shepherds would be so surprised! This is how the surprise happened. The shepherds were watching their sheep and an angel appeared in the sky!

Jesus Is Born

Luke 2:1-7 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Luke. Luke loved Jesus and wanted others to know and love Jesus, too. And the word gospel means “good news!” Our story is about why we celebrate and have parties at Christmas. The true story of Christmas begins with an angel telling Mary that she would have a special baby named Jesus. Jesus is special because Jesus is God’s Son! God loves us so much that He gave us His Son, Jesus. And our story is about when Jesus was born—His birthday! One day, Mary and Joseph had to go a long way to a town called Bethlehem. Sometimes, people rode animals when they had to go a long way. Maybe Mary was riding an animal that makes this sound. “Hee-Haw, Hee-Haw!” Yes! That is a donkey! Mary and Joseph needed an animal like a donkey to get to the town of Bethlehem. When Mary and Joseph got to Bethlehem, they needed to find a place to sleep. They were so tired, and it was almost time for Baby Jesus to be born. Joseph knocked on a

Luke 1:26-33, 38, 46-49 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Luke. Luke loved Jesus and wanted others to know and love Jesus, too. And the word gospel means “good news!” This is the true story of Christmas! Do you give and get gifts at Christmas? Yes? Me, too! Since we give gifts at Christmas, let’s play a little game. I’ll give you the name of two gifts, and you tell me which gift you would rather get. Okay, which gift would you rather get? A teddy bear or fluffy bunny slippers? Both of these are super fun gifts! Let’s try another one. Which gift would you rather get? A train or a soccer ball? Yes, it’s hard to choose because they are both so cool! Now, let’s think about gifts for a minute. Why do you think we give gifts at Christmas? Is it to show someone we love them? Yes! Giving gifts is a great way to show someone you love them. And that is why God gave us the BEST gift EVER. You see, God loves you and me so much that He gave us the most special gift
