God Helps Me Not Be Afraid

Psalm 27 Our story comes from the Bible. It is found in the part of the Bible called Psalms. The word psalm means holy song or special song. God Helps Me Not Be Afraid David loved God and trusted Him. Sometimes David felt afraid. There were times when things were hard. But David said, “God is my light.” That means God helps us see and helps us feel safe. David said, “God is with me, so I will not be afraid.” David talked to God. He asked God for help. David trusted that God would take care of him. And God did. Jesus helps us see this clearly. Jesus is our light too. He helps us not be afraid and teaches us to trust God. David Is Kind to Mephibosheth

1 Samuel 20:14-17; 2 Samuel 9:1-13 Our story comes from the Bible. It is found in the part of the Bible called 1 Samuel ("First Samuel") and from 2 Samuel ("Second Samuel"). The two books in the Bible named after Samuel. David had a very good friend named Jonathan. Jonathan and David made a promise to always care for each other’s families. Years later, David became king. One day, David asked, “Is there anyone from Jonathan’s family I can help?” Someone said, “Jonathan has a son named Mephibosheth.” Mephibosheth was brought to David. He was afraid. But David said, “Do not be afraid. I will be kind to you because of your father Jonathan.” David gave Mephibosheth a place to live. David made sure he had food. The people around him were happy too. They played music, shouted with joy, and celebrated. David was not worried about what others thought. He just wanted to praise God. David was amazed. He said, “God is so great!” But David also knew something special. Even though God made the whole world, God cares about people too. God cares about you. God also gives us His Word to teach us what is good and right. Jesus helps us see this clearly. Jesus shows us how much God loves us and helps us understand God’s ways.
