Jesus Loves Everyone

The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) Our true story comes from parts of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew, the Gospel of Mark, the Gospel of Luke, and the Gospel of John. The word gospel means “good news!” Our true story is about the first twelve people who followed Jesus. They were called “disciples.” Like Peter and Andrew.  Peter and Andrew were fishermen out trying to catch fish when Jesus said, “Come follow me!” And they did!  James and his brother John were fishermen, too. James and John were out with their dad when Jesus said, “Come follow me!” And they did. In the next town, Jesus found Philip.  Then Philip found his friend, Nathanael, and brought him to see Jesus.  Nathanael followed Jesus, too! Then there was Matthew. Matthew had a different job. He was a tax collector. Matthew followed Jesus, too! Then there was Thomas, and James, and Thaddeus, and Simon, and Judas. Whew! We did it! These were Jesus’ twelve disciples.  All different people from different places, w

John 6:1-13 Our true story is found in a part of the Bible called the Gospel of John. John was one of the friends and helpers of Jesus. And the word “Gospel” means “good news!” Our true story is about one way Jesus showed love to the people around Him. It starts with Jesus and His friends, the disciples. There was a crowd of people coming to see Jesus. There were over 5,000 people! Jesus loved them all. Jesus knew they would be hungry and wanted to help them. So, Jesus asked one of His friends, “Where can we buy bread for all these people?” Bread for more than 5,000 people? Think about how much bread that would be. A LOT! And then you’d have to PAY for all that bread. There was a boy in the crowd who offered to share his lunch. The boy brought five loaves of bread. Can you count to five with me? One, two, three, four, five! The boy brought five loaves of bread. And the boy had two fish. Can you count to two with me? One, two! The boy had five loaves of bread and two fish. Now is that e

Mark 5:25-34 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Mark. Mark loved Jesus and told people about Him. That means Jesus was his teacher. And the word "Gospel" means "good news!" We begin with a woman. The woman had been sick for a long, long time. She had gone to so many doctors. But no one could heal her. The woman was so so sad. One day, Jesus came to town. The woman had heard that Jesus could make sick people better. And she thought that maybe, just maybe if she touched His clothes, she would be healed. She didn’t know if she would be able to get to Jesus because there was a crowd of people. But the woman decided to try. So, she made her way through the crowd of people.  And finally, she was close enough that she could reach out and touch Jesus’ clothes.  And she was healed! She immediately felt better! But then, Jesus turned around and said, “Who touched my clothes?” “Uh oh,” the woman thought. “Am I going to be in trouble? I didn’t as

Jesus Washes His Friends’ Feet

John 13:3-7, 34-35 Our true story is found in a part of the Bible called the Gospel of John. John was one of the friends and helpers of Jesus. And the word "Gospel" means "good news!"  Our true story is about the ONE most special, most powerful, most important thing Jesus told us to do. Do you want to know what it is? Well, Jesus didn’t just TELL us, Jesus SHOWED us what to do. One night Jesus was having dinner with His friends, the disciples. Jesus got up from where He was eating and wrapped a towel around His waist. Then, Jesus poured some water into a bowl. He took the water, knelt down in front of His friends, and began washing their feet. Wait! Did you hear that? Jesus washed what? Their feet! Their feet probably had a LOT of dirt on them from walking around outside.  This was a messy, smelly job. Jesus is God’s Son, and He is SO special and important. His friends were surprised that someone so important would do that messy job. But Jesus washed His friends’ fe
