Jesus Brings Lazarus Back to Life

Image
John 11:1-45 Jesus had three friends that lived in a village called Bethany, near the city of Jerusalem.  The friends were Mary, her sister Martha, and their brother Lazarus. Jesus loved his friends very much. One day, Jesus and His helpers were staying in a town on the east side of the Jordan River, far away from where His friends lived. A messenger came to Jesus. A messenger is a person who gives news to people. But this messenger didn’t have good news for Jesus. “Jesus, your friend Mary sent me with sad news. Lazarus is very sick,” the messenger said. Jesus loved Lazarus. He felt very sad that Lazarus was so sick. But he stayed in the town for two more days before going to see Lazarus. When Jesus came near to Bethany, He found that Lazarus had been dead for four days. Mary heard that Jesus was coming. She ran to meet Him. She was crying and said, “Jesus, I wish You had come sooner. But I know you can still help my brother.” Jes

Jesus Tells the Story of the Two Sons

Luke 15:1-2, 11-32 Jesus was friends with people that had done bad things. Jesus loved them and forgave them for the bad things they had done. Jesus wanted them to learn about God and do things that God said to do. Some did not like that Jesus was friends with people that had done bad things. Some thought Jesus should only care about the people who already did the things that God said. But Jesus wanted the people to know that God cared about everyone. So Jesus told them stories to teach them. He told about a father and his two sons. The father loved his two sons and had saved some money for them. One day, the younger son said, “Father, give me my share of the family money." So the father divided the money between his two sons. The oldest son decided to stay at home with his father and save his money. But the younger son thought about all the fun things he could do with the money. He decided to leave his home. So he packed up everything he had

Jesus Tells about a Lost Sheep

Luke 15:1-7 Jesus was friends with Matthew and others that were tax collectors. And Jesus was friends with others that had done bad things. So Jesus told them a story to teach them. He told about a shepherd and his sheep. A group of sheep is called a flock. This shepherd had 100 sheep in his flock. That’s a lot of sheep! The shepherd kept his sheep safe, and helped them find grass to eat and water to drink. Every night, he gathered them into a safe place where they could sleep. Every day, the shepherd counted his sheep to make sure all 100 were there. Image courtesy of Bible Story Cards (

Jesus Teaches about God's Care

Matthew 6:25-34 Jesus taught people. He was a very good teacher. People followed Jesus wherever He went because they wanted to learn more about God, His Father. One day, Jesus was teaching. He climbed up the side of a big hill and sat down. He asked His special helpers, His disciples, to gather around Him. The people who had been following Jesus gathered around Him, too. Jesus knew some of the people worried: that means they thought a lot about things. Jesus knew it wasn’t good for the people to worry. Jesus began to teach the people. He said, “Don't worry.” Jesus knew that some of the people thought a lot about how they would get food to eat or how they would get clothes to wear. God didn’t want people to worry about those things. Jesus knew God had a plan to take care of them. Jesus said, “Don’t worry about what you will eat.” He looked up in the sky. Jesus said, “See the birds in the sky? They don’t worry about what they will eat. They don’t plant
