Jesus Loves the Children

Luke 18:15-16

The pictures for our Bible story show a special kind of window, called a “stained glass” window. A stained glass window is a window made of a bunch of different pieces of colored glass. When the pieces are put together, they make a picture. Most of the stained glass windows in churches show scenes from Bible stories. The beautiful windows help the people learn and remember the Bible stories.

Our true story comes from the Bible. It is in the part, or book, of the Bible called Luke. Luke loved Jesus and wanted others to know and love Jesus, too.

There was a big crowd of people. They all came to see Jesus, God’s Son. He was telling stories about what God is like and who is important to Him.

Lots and lots of people had come to hear what Jesus was saying. Some children were going up to Jesus too.

But Jesus’ friends, the disciples, stopped the children. The disciples wanted the children to go back because they didn’t think Jesus would want to see the children.

But Jesus DID want the children to come see Him. Jesus told His disciples: Let the little children come to me (Luke 18:16 NIV).

Children are very important to Jesus. You are very important to Jesus. Jesus loves you more than a million, billion, trillion valentines. If you were in a crowd full of important people, Jesus would hold His arms out wide and say to you, “Come to me!” Why? Because Jesus loves you a lot!

Bible Paraphrase: How wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. – Ephesians 3:18, NIV

Text Truth: Jesus loves me.

People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these Luke 18:15-16

Jesus wants all children to come to Him because He loves them. Nothing is wider or longer or higher or deeper than Jesus’ love for you.

How wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ Ephesians 3:18

With your family, write down the names of everyone in your family. Ask each member of your family say their name and then write it down on the list.

Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. Thank God for sending Jesus to be your friend forever and to love you so much. Read through your list. As you read each name, ask God to always help them remember that nothing is wider, longer, higher, or deeper than God’s love for them.
