God Made Birds, Fish, Animals

Genesis 1:20-25

Our true story comes from a book, or part, of the Bible called Genesis. The word genesis means “the beginning.”

We have learned that in the very beginning there was nothing but God. Then, God made everything!

Day one, God made the light and dark...

Day two, God made the sky above the water...

Day three, God made the land, plants, and sea.

Day four, God made the sun, moon, and stars. And it was good.

On day five, God made fish! God made everything that swims in the sea. God made the dolphins and jellyfish and clown fish and octopus and giant whales!

But God wasn’t done on day five. God also made birds! God made eagles and bluebirds and cockatoos and hummingbirds and owls and geese. God made SO many birds! God made them to fly in the air and build nests and sing songs with their pretty chirping. He gave them pretty colors and soft feathers. They are all so different and special!

God made all the fish and birds on day five. When He saw what He had made, He said, “That’s good!”

And on day six, God made…animals! And there are SO many different kinds! Giraffes and elephants and penguins and bunnies and cows and snakes and sheep and zebras and sloths and groundhogs and llamas and slugs. There are so many animals, we could go on and on! And when God looked at all the animals He had made, He said, “That’s good!”

Count with me: Day one, God made the light and dark. Day two, God made the sky above the water. Day three, God made land, plants, and sea. Day four, God made the sun, moon, and stars. Day five, God made fish and birds. Day six, God made animals. But that’s not quite all God made. Because God made everything!

Bible Paraphrase: God saw everything he had made. And it was very good. – Genesis 1:31, NIrV

Text Truth: On days five and six, God made the birds, fish, and animals.

Family Devotional

And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.

And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

Think of an animal. It can be any bird, any fish, or any animal you can imagine! There are so many animals! In our Bible story, we learned that on day five, God made fish and birds. And on day six, God made animals. And that's not all God made. Because God made everything!

God saw everything he had made. And it was very good. – Genesis 1:31 NIrV

With your family, make a list of your favorite animals. And there are A LOT of animals to choose from!

Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. Acknowledge to God your love of all birds, fish, and animals that He made. And acknowledge that there are SO many! Thank God for (read through your list). Acknowledge to God that all His animals are AWESOME! And acknowledge to God your love for Him.
