I Can Pray to God

Jeremiah 29:12; Matthew 6:5-13

Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Jeremiah. Jeremiah loved God and told people many things that God wanted them to know. Our true story also comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew. The word gospel means “good news!”

Our story is about something we can do everywhere we go! What do you think it is? Well, the “something” we can do everywhere we go, is that we can…TALK…to GOD! It’s true! We can talk to God everywhere we go.

We can talk to God at the beach. We can talk to God when we’re riding through town. We can talk to God when we’re at a campsite fishing. We can talk to God ANYWHERE!

Let’s think about all the times we can talk to God. Can we talk to God when we wake up in the morning? Yes! We can talk to God when we wake up in the morning.

Can we talk to God at night before we go to bed? Yes! We can talk to God at night before we go to bed. We can talk to God anytime! Day time, night time, bath time, nap time . . . ANY TIME!

Do you know what we can talk to God about? ANYTHING! Can you talk to God and tell Him you’re scared when there’s a storm outside? Of course, you can!

Can you tell God you’re sad when your friends aren’t being nice to you? Of course, you can!

But what about when you’re happy because it’s your birthday or you got a new toy? Can you tell God about that, too? Absolutely! Yes, yes, yes! You can talk to God about ANYTHING.

We can talk to God anytime, anywhere, about anything! And God hears us. Do you know why God hears us? Because YOU are very important to God! God made you, and He loves you—A LOT! So, no matter where you are or what you’re doing—whether you’re LOUD or quiet—you can talk to God, and He will hear you; because God made you and God loves you.

Bible Paraphrase: I am fearfully and wonderfully made. — Psalm 139:14, NIV

Text Truth: God made me.

Family Devotional

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to youJeremiah 29:12

Our Bible story was about how we can talk to God anytime, anywhere, about anything. Does that mean we can talk to God when we’re swimming? It sure does! We really can talk to God anytime, anywhere, about anything—even when we’re swimming! God made us, and He wants us to talk to Him.

I am fearfully and wonderfully made. —Psalm 139:14, NIV

We know that God wants us to talk to Him anytime, anywhere, about anything, right? Right! So, with your family, take turns telling God anything you want. It really can be anything! Have each family member write down the things you want to tell God, and the name of the family member.

Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. In your own words, thank God that you can talk to Him anytime, anywhere, about anything. Thank God for always listening to you and caring about what you say. "(read a family member's name) wants to tell You (read what they listed)." (Continue for each family member, including yourself.) Thank God for His love and acknowledge to God your love for Him.
