You Are Important to God

Luke 12:7

Our true story is found in at part of the Bible called the Gospel of Luke. The word "Gospel" means "good news!"

Can you touch your head? What do you feel? HAIR! Yes, God made people with hair.

Some people have a lot of hair. And some have a little hair. Some people have no hair at all! But no matter if you have a little or a lot, God knows exactly how many hairs are on your head. It’s true! The Bible teaches us that God knows how many hairs are on your head. Every. Single. One.

Look at the friend sitting beside you. Can you imagine trying to count the exact number of hairs on their head? That would be so hard—impossibly hard! But God knows. God knows how many hairs are on your head—every person’s head!

God even knows when one hair falls onto your shirt, or when you get your hair cut, or when you brush your hair and they get stuck in your hairbrush. God knows!

And do you know what all of this hair stuff means? It means YOU ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO GOD. That’s what it means! You are so important to God that He even knows how many hairs are on your head.

You are important to God when you’re happy or sad. Mad or silly. You are important to God when you do something right and when you do something wrong. When you’re at the dentist or running on the playground. When you’re asleep in your bed or cleaning up your toys.

You are important to God whether you’re at the back of the line or at the front of the line. God made you, and that makes you very, VERY important to Him. Remember: God made you! And THAT makes you very important to God.

Bible Paraphrase: I am fearfully and wonderfully made. — Psalm 139:14, NIV

Text Truth: God made me.

Family Devotional

"Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." —Luke 12:7

Our Bible story was about how important YOU are to God! You are SO important to God. He knows how many hairs are on your head. That’s pretty amazing! Do you know why you are so important to God? Because God made you!

I am fearfully and wonderfully made. —Psalm 139:14, NIV

With your family, each of guess how many hairs are one your head, and write down that number. Also, write down family member's name next to their guess. You know, there is really only one person who knows exactly how many hairs are on our heads. Who is it? That’s right, God! God knows, because YOU are important to God.

Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. In your own words, thank God for making (name family member). "Maybe, (family member) has (number they guessed) hairs. Maybe, (another family member) has (number they guessed) hairs. (Continue with each family member and their guess.) We don't know the exact number, but You do! Because we are that important to You." Thank God for His love and acknowledge to God your love for Him.
