Daniel 3:1-28

Our true story is found in a part of the Bible called Daniel. Daniel was a man that loved God very much and lived in a land called Babylon.

We begin with a king named Nebuchadnezzar. King Nebuchadnezzar thought he was the best king there ever was, and he wanted everyone to know it.

One day, he had an idea of how he would let everyone know he was the best. He told his workers to make a giant golden statue for everyone to bow down to and worship.

After King Nebuchadnezzar had the statue made, he told all of the people in the kingdom that every time they heard a special music play, he wanted everyone to bow down to the statue! Then, the king told everyone if they didn’t bow down to this statue when they heard the special music, he would throw them into the fire! Each day, the music played. And everyone in the crowd bowed down.

One day, when the music played, some of the king’s helpers saw three men NOT bowing down to the statue. This made the king very mad.

The men’s names were Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They loved God and wanted to obey Him. You see, God had told His people to NEVER bow down to anyone or anything but Him. So, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego obeyed God and did what He said. They did NOT bow down to the statue.

When King Nebuchadnezzar heard this, he was SO mad that he had Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego thrown into the fire!

If I were them, I would be so afraid! But Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego weren’t afraid. They knew that God was with them, and that no matter what happens, God’s got it.

And God did! After the king had Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego thrown into the fire, something amazing happened!

When the king and his helpers looked into the fire, they saw FOUR men walking around! And one of them looked like an angel!

The king told Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to come out of the fire. And they did! Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego walked right out of the fire, and they weren’t hurt at all! God was with them and saved them from the fire.

From that day on, the king only prayed to the one true God! Bible stories like this help us remember that no matter what happens, God’s got it.

Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.
Daniel 3:28

Our Bible story was about something very hot. What was hot in our story? Yes! Fire! King Nebuchadnezzar threw Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego into the fire, because they would not bow down to his statue. That’s bad! They would only bow down to the one true God. That’s good!

Who was with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fire? God was with them! God sent an angel to protect Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the fire. King Nebuchadnezzar learned that no matter what happens, God’s got it!

God is with you wherever you goJoshua 1:9, NLT

With your family, make a list of places you go. For each family member, write down one place they go to or have been before.

Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. In your own words, acknowledge to God that he is SO big and powerful, and He really can be with you wherever you go. Acknowledge that He can be with you when you go to (read through your family's list). Acknowledge that only HE can do that! Ask God to help you remember that He is always with you so you can be brave and do the right thing. Thank God for His love, and acknowledge to God your love for Him.
