Nothing Can Separate Us from God’s Love

Romans 8:38-39

Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Letter to the Romans, which is a letter written to early Christians.

These are train cars. They are so cool! Do you want me to show you the coolest part?

They can go together . . .

. . . or they can separate! Do you know that word? Separate?

Look . . .  I put them together.

I separate them.

I put them together.

I separate them.

Together.

Separated.

Our Bible story today is about how NOTHING can separate YOU from God’s love. It’s true!

God loves you when you feel sad, grumpy, or mad. Show me your sad face.

Yep, God still loves you, even with a sad face or a mad face or a grumpy face!

God loves you when you’re silly. Show me your silly face.

God loves you, even when you’re silly. God loves you when you’re at your grandma’s house or the doctor. He loves you when you play on the playground or eat a snack. Do you think God loves you when you’re sleeping? Of course He does!

Do you think God loves you when you’re in timeout? Yes, even in timeout. God loves you forever and always, no matter what. You can trust God because NOTHING can separate YOU from God’s love.

Bible Paraphrase: Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Proverbs 3:5, NIVI

Text Truth: I can trust God.

Family Devotional

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
—Romans 8:38-39

Our Bible story was about how nothing will ever separate us from God’s love. God loves us THAT much! And that’s why we can trust God with all our heart, just like the verse we are learning.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart. —Proverbs 3:5, NIVI

With your family, write down all of the names of your family members. Have each family member write their name. As they do so, ask them to say, "God loves me."

Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. In your own words, say, “Dear God, thank You for Your amazing love. Your love is bigger than anything we will ever do and any place we will ever go. Nothing will ever separate us from Your love! Thank You for loving (name each family member). I pray we will always trust You and believe in how much You love us. We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
