Heaven

John 14:3; Revelation 21:3-5

Our true story is from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of John. John was one of the disciples of Jesus. That means Jesus was his teacher. And the word gospel means “good news!” Our true story is also from a part of the Bible called the Book of Revelation. Revelation means to learn something new.

Our true story is about heaven! We talk a lot about how Jesus wants to be our friend forever and ever and ever! Do you know what that means? That means Jesus is in heaven, right now, getting a place ready for all of His friends! And that is super, wonderful news! Would you like to hear what heaven will be like?


In heaven, there are no more boo-boos. No skinned knees, no bumps on the head. Everyone can run and play, and no one ever gets hurt in heaven! Bye-bye, bandages!


In heaven, no one gets sick. No runny noses, no tummy aches, no earaches. Everyone is healthy in heaven! Bye-bye medicine and thermometer! 


In heaven, we will never be sad. Because sad things don’t happen in heaven. There will be nothing to worry about and no reason to be afraid.


In heaven, we will have everything we need. We will be happy all the time, because we will be with our friend, Jesus. Jesus will be our friend forever and ever and EVER! It will be like a party that never ends!


It is so exciting when you think about it! Jesus is in heaven, right now, getting heaven ready for all His friends! That is so awesome!


I am so glad that Jesus wants to be our friend forever! And Jesus wants everyone to know that He wants to be their friend forever, too. So, our job is to go here, there, and EVERYWHERE, loving people like Jesus and telling them that Jesus wants to be their friend forever!

Family Devotional

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” —John 14:3

In our Bible story, we learned about heaven. Heaven is a wonderful place because Jesus will be there and Jesus is the best friend we will ever have. The best news is that Jesus wants to be everyone’s friend forever! That means Jesus wants to be YOUR friend forever! And when Jesus is your friend forever, He will help you love people the way He loves you.

Walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us. —Ephesians 5:2, NIV

With your family, take a piece of paper and make a list of your favorite places. It can be anywhere you’ve been that you really love. So, think of all the places you’ve been to. And make sure that each family member writes their name next to the place they write down. Then, write “Heaven” in big letters, because anywhere with Jesus is the best place ever.

Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. In your own words, say, “Dear God, Thank You for making places like . . . (read the list your family made). These are all really great! But we know Jesus is in heaven, right now, getting a place ready for us that will be better than we can ever imagine. There will be no more sadness or sickness. Everyone will have everything they need. And best of all, we will be with You and Your amazing love forever and ever and ever! We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Genesis 26:12-25 Take-Home Our story comes from the book, or part, of the Bible called Genesis. Genesis means "the beginning." The Bible tells us about a man named Isaac. God gave Isaac lots of land. God blessed Isaac by helping him have many animals and servants. When the animals needed water to drink, Isaac and his helpers took them to a well.
