Salvation Is God’s Gift

Ephesians 2:8-9

Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Letter to the Ephesians, which is a letter written to early Christians.

Our true story is about a very special gift, which is another word for “present.”

The gift I’m telling you about is so BIG, so GREAT, so WONDERFUL, that you need to play your party horn.

This gift is for everyone. Does that mean this gift is for you? Yes! Does that mean this gift is for me? Yes! Does that mean this gift is for EVERYONE in the whole world? Yes!

Are you ready to find out what this gift is? Count to three with me. One. Two. Three! It’s Jesus! Jesus is the gift for everyone! Jesus is a gift for everyone because Jesus wants to be everyone’s friend forever.

And Jesus is the best friend, because Jesus loves us, no matter what. That’s a really special gift! Let me ask you a question. Do you think it has to be your birthday to get this gift? No! Jesus is a gift for you every day because Jesus wants to be your friend forever.

Do you have to do work to pay for this gift? No! Jesus is a gift for you, no matter what because Jesus wants to be your friend forever.

Do you have to go somewhere special to get this gift? No! Jesus is a gift for you, wherever you are because Jesus wants to be your friend forever!

So, is there anything that can change how much Jesus loves you? No! Jesus will always love you, no matter what, because Jesus wants to be your friend forever. Jesus is God’s GIFT to all of us!

Bible Verse: Walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us. Ephesians 5:2, NIV

Text Truth: Jesus is a gift for everyone.

Family Devotional

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.
—Ephesians 2:8-9

In our Bible story, we learned that Jesus is a gift for everyone! And Jesus is the best gift because Jesus wants to be our friend forever! And the Bible verse we are learning will help us remember that when we follow Jesus, we can love others the same way Jesus loves us.

Walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us. —Ephesians 5:2, NIV

With your family take a piece of paper and make a list of ways Jesus loves you—things like Jesus is a good friend or Jesus is always with you or Jesus listens when you talk to Him. And be sure to write the name of each family member next to the “way” they say.

Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. In your own words, say, “Dear God, thank You for giving us Your Son, Jesus. Jesus is the best friend we could ever have. We know Jesus loves us because Jesus . . . (read the list your family made). Please help us go here, there, and everywhere, loving people the way Jesus loves us. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
