God Loves Me

John 3:16; 1 John 4:9-10

Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of John. John was one of the friends and helpers of Jesus. And the word "Gospel" means "good news!" Our true story also comes from a part of the Bible called the First Letter of John. The letter was written by John because he loved Jesus and wanted everyone to know about Him.

We begin with Someone who loves you very, very much. Here is a hint: Who made you wonderful? God made you wonderful! God loves you so much!

God did something very special because God loves us. God gave us a gift.

Has someone ever given you a gift? Maybe someone gave you a teddy bear as a birthday gift.

. . . or a toy car. Those are good gifts for sure. But the gift God gave us is the most amazing gift ever! And it’s for everyone in the whole world!

God loves us so much that God gave us . . . JESUS! God loved the world so much God gave us Jesus! Wow! Jesus is special because Jesus is God’s Son, AND . . . Jesus wants to be our friend forever!

God made you and loves you so much that God gave you Jesus to be your friend forever. What a special gift! Thank You, God!

Thank You, God! Thank You for Jesus and thank You for making us wonderful! So, friend, when anyone asks you, “Who made you wonderful?” Say, “God made me wonderful!”

Bible Verse: How you made me is amazing and wonderful. Psalm 139:14, NIrV

Text Truth: God loves us so much that God gave us Jesus.

Family Devotional

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
—1 John 4:9-10

In our Bible Story, we learned that God loves us so much that God gave us Jesus to be our friend forever! Do you know why God loves us so much? Because God made us! All people are wonderfully made by God. That means God made me and God made you . . . wonderful! So, when anyone asks you, “Who made you wonderful?” Say, “God made me wonderful!”

How you made me is amazing and wonderful. —Psalm 139:14, NIrV

With your family, take a piece of paper and write down the name of every member of your family. If you have them, give heart-shaped stickers to each member of your family. Then, one at a time, have each family member place their heart sticker next to their name of the paper. If you do not have stickers, ask each family member to draw a heart next to their name on the paper. Tell your family, “You are putting a heart next to your name, because God loves, God gave you Jesus!”

After the activity, say, “Look! God loves [family member’s name]! God loves [family member’s name]! God loves . . . (say this with family member’s name). God loves you all so much God gave you Jesus!”

Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. In your own words, say, “Dear God, thank You for making (say each family member’s name) amazing and wonderful! Thank You for loving all of us so much You gave us Jesus. You’re the best, God, and we love You! In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
