Pillars of Cloud and Fire
Exodus 13:3-4, 21-22
Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Exodus. The word “exodus” means to leave or go away from.
We begin with God’s people, the Israelites.
God loved the Israelites so much that God promised to lead them to a new home. This home would have all the food they would need. God called it a land “flowing with milk and honey.”
The new home God promised His people was a really special place to live with lots of food. But how would they find their new home? Did they have a map? No. How would they know which way to go? God had a very special way to show them, in a way only God could do. Why? Because God’s got it!
God did something AMAZING . . . that only God can do! God gave the Israelites something to follow so they would know where to go. God gave them a pillar of cloud! God told the people to follow the cloud during the day.
God told the people to follow the cloud during the day. And when it got dark and they couldn’t see the cloud, God gave them this! God gave the people a pillar of fire to lead them at night.
God led the people by cloud in the day . . .
. . . and by fire at night. God stayed in front of them, showing them the way to go!
The Israelites trusted God and followed the cloud and fire to their new home where they’d have all the food they’d need. God showed the people the way to go, and God will show us the way to go too because God’s got it. So, when anyone asks you: “Who's got it?”, You can tell them, “God's got it!”
Bible Verse: Trust in the LORD with all your heart. —Proverbs 3:5, NIV
Text Truth: I can trust God will show me the way.

“The Lord will save me, and we will sing with stringed instruments
all the days of our lives in the temple of the Lord.”
—Isaiah 38:20
In our Bible Story, King Hezekiah talked to God about keeping his city safe. King Hezekiah talked to God about being sick. King Hezekiah talked to God about how much he loved God and wanted to do what God told him to do. King Hezekiah knew he could talk to God about anything because God’s got it! So, when anyone asks you: “Who’s got it?” you can tell them “God’s got it!”
Trust in the LORD with all your heart. —Proverbs 3:5, NIV
With your family, take a piece of paper and make a list of anything you want to talk to God about. Have each member of your family write down something they want to talk to God about. It really can be anything because we can talk to God about anything! Also, make sure each family member writes their name next to the thing they write down on the paper.
Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. In your own words, say, “Dear God, thank You for loving us and listening to us when we talk to You. Thank You that we can talk to You about anything! [Family member’s name] wants to (read the list). [Family member’s name] wants to (read the list). (Read each family member’s name and what they listed). We know You’ve got it, God, and we love You very much! In Jesus’ name, amen.”
