A Bright Light for Saul
Acts 9:1-9
Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Acts. That name is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” An apostle is someone who is sent to teach others about Jesus.
Saul did not love Jesus. He didn’t want people to talk about Jesus or follow Him.
Saul thought he was doing the right thing, but he was making people who loved Jesus feel scared and sad.
One day, Saul was walking down the road to a big city called Damascus. He wanted to find more people who loved Jesus so he could stop them. But something amazing happened!
Suddenly, a bright light from the sky shone all around him. It was so bright that Saul fell to the ground! Then he heard a voice say, “Saul, Saul, why are you hurting Me?”
“Who are You, Lord?” Saul asked.
The voice said, “I am Jesus. When you hurt My people, you are hurting Me.”
Saul was surprised! He didn’t know that Jesus was real and alive. Now he knew that Jesus loved His people and wanted Saul to know Him too.
When Saul got up, he couldn’t see. His eyes were open, but everything was dark. He couldn’t walk by himself, so his friends helped him get to the city.
For three days, Saul couldn’t see. He didn’t eat or drink anything. He waited and listened. God was helping Saul’s heart get ready for something very special.
Jesus helped Saul stop and listen. Even though Saul was making wrong choices, Jesus still loved him. Jesus showed Saul a new way—a way of love and truth. Jesus wants to help us learn, listen, and follow Him too.
Dear God,
Thank You for loving us, even when we make mistakes. Thank You for showing Your light to Saul and helping him learn about Jesus. Please help us listen to You and follow You every day. Help us be kind and love other people like Jesus does. We love You, God.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Bible Verse: But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. — Romans 5:8, BSB
Paraphrase: God shows His love for us.
