Deborah Helps God’s People
Judges 4:1-10, 14; 5:1-31
Our true story comes from a part called the Book of Judges. A judge is someone who tells people what the law says.
A long time ago, God’s people, the Israelites, were in trouble. Their enemies were not being kind to them.
God chose a very special woman named Deborah to help. Deborah loved God and listened carefully to what God said. She helped people solve their problems, and everyone respected her because she was wise and kind.
One day, Deborah told a man named Barak, “God wants you to gather an army and go fight the enemy. God will help you!”
Barak was afraid to go by himself, so he said, “I will go if you come with me!”
Deborah said, “I will go with you.” She was brave and trusted God!
When it was time to fight, Deborah said, “Go! God is with you!” And God helped Barak and his army win the battle!
After the battle was over, Deborah and Barak were so happy that they sang a song to thank God. They praised God for helping them and keeping them safe.
Deborah listened to God and helped the people. God helped them win the battle, and Deborah sang a song to thank God. God wants us to listen to Him, trust Him, and thank Him, too!
Dear God,
Thank You for Deborah, who listened to You and helped Your people. Thank You for being with us when we are brave and when we are afraid. Help us to listen to You, trust You, and thank You every day. We are so glad that You are always with us. We love You, God.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Bible Verse: “Have I not commanded you to be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” — Joshua 1:9, BSB
Paraphrase: God is always with me.
