Shine Like Stars

Philippians 2:14-16 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Letter to the Philippians. A letter is one of the ways people use to share important news. One day, Paul wrote a letter to his friends who loved Jesus. He told them something very special: “Do everything without complaining. Don’t argue. Be kind. Be loving. Be like Jesus. When you do this, you shine like stars!” Paul wanted everyone who followed Jesus to live in a way that helped others see God’s love. He said that when we are kind and do what’s right—without grumbling—we shine like bright stars in the sky. Have you ever seen stars twinkle at night? They shine in the dark and help us see. Paul said that when we love God and love others, we shine just like those stars. How can you shine like a star? You can help someone clean up. You can share your toys. You can say nice words. You can listen when someone is talking. You can say “yes” with a happy heart when someone asks you to help. And do you know what else? ...

Tabitha

Acts 9:36-42 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Acts, which is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” An apostle is someone who is sent to teach others about Jesus. There was a kind woman named Tabitha. Some of her friends called her Dorcas. She loved Jesus very much, and she liked to help people. Tabitha made clothes for people who needed them. She gave food and hugs and kind words. Everyone in her town of Joppa loved her! One day, Tabitha got very sick. She lay down and didn’t get up. Her friends were very sad. They missed her so much! They had heard that Peter, one of Jesus’ helpers, was nearby. So they sent someone to ask Peter to come quickly. Peter came right away. When he got to the house, many people were crying. They showed Peter all the clothes Tabitha had made. “She was so kind,” they said. “We love her.” Peter went into the room where Tabitha was. He knelt down and prayed. Then he said, “Tabitha, get up.” And guess what? Tabitha opened her eyes! She sat up!...

2 Chronicles 34 A long time ago, there was a boy named Josiah. He became king when he was only eight years old! Even though Josiah was still young, he loved God and wanted to do what was right. As Josiah grew older, he prayed to God and learned more and more about what pleased God. He looked around and saw that some people were doing wrong things. They were worshiping statues instead of worshiping the one true God. That made Josiah very sad. So, Josiah told his helpers, “Let’s clean up our land. Let’s take down all the things that don’t make God happy.” And they did! They broke down the statues and took away the things that were not good. Josiah wanted everyone to love God and follow Him. Then one day, while people were fixing God’s temple, they found a very special book. It was God’s Word! They brought the book to Josiah and read it out loud. Josiah listened carefully. His eyes got big. He knew that some of the people had not been obeying what the book said. He wanted to help! So he c...

Hannah

1 Samuel 1-2 Our story comes from the Bible. It is found in the part of the Bible called 1 Samuel ("First Samuel"). It is the first of two books in the Bible named after Samuel. A long time ago, there was a kind woman named Hannah. She really wanted to have a baby, but she didn’t have any children. This made Hannah very sad. One day, Hannah went to the temple, a special place where people talked to God. She prayed and prayed, and tears came to her eyes. She said, “Dear God, please help me. If You give me a baby, I will give him back to You to serve You his whole life.” A priest named Eli saw Hannah praying. At first, he didn’t understand what she was doing, but then Hannah told him she was talking to God. Eli said, “Go in peace. May God give you what you asked for.” Not long after that, God answered Hannah’s prayer—God gave her a baby boy! She named him Samuel, which means “God heard me.” Hannah loved her little boy so much. When Samuel was a little older, Hannah kept her pro...
