Joseph Forgives

The word genesis means “the beginning.” We have been learning about God’s plan for Joseph. And now, we get to hear the last part of the story. Joseph always trusted God’s plan. Remember, Joseph had a lot of brothers-ELEVEN! Count them with me: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven! All of those brothers got angry and jealous because their father gave Joseph a special coat. They were jealous because Joseph was given a special coat and they weren’t. So, they stole the coat, and threw Joseph in a big hole. Then, they sent him with people who took Joseph to Egypt, far from home, where he was thrown in jail. Then, Joseph was taken out of jail. He helped Pharaoh learn about his dreams, and Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of giving hungry people food. Wow! What a plan. God’s plan is awesome! Joseph Saves the Grain

Genesis 41 WATCH VIDEO Take-Home Activities Our true story is found in a part of the Bible called Genesis. The word genesis means “the beginning.” We are continuing with the young man, Joseph. And Joseph was in jail. He was put in jail, even though he’d done nothing wrong. Being in jail was hard for Joseph, but God had a different plan. One day, the king of ALL of Egypt, Pharaoh, had some dreams he didn’t understand.  The dreams were about seven thin cows and seven fat cows. Cows? Yep, cows. Pharaoh also dreamed about stalks of grain. Grain? That’s kind of strange. We make bread out of grain. Pharaoh was confused by these dreams, and he wanted to know what his dreams meant. So… He asked JOSEPH to help him. Hooray! So, Joseph was brought out of jail straight to Pharaoh.  Joseph told Pharaoh that the dreams were from God. Those dreams meant that Pharaoh needed to save lots and lots of grain, because his people were going to be hungry and need it later.  Pharaoh was SO happy...

 Genesis 39–40 WATCH VIDEO Take-Home Activities Our true story is found in a part of the Bible called Genesis. The word genesis means “the beginning.” We are continuing with the young man, Joseph. Joseph was about to do something really hard! But Joseph trusted God’s plan. Joseph ended up working at a BIG palace in Egypt for a man name Potiphar. While Joseph worked at the palace, he tried to do a good job. If Potiphar told him to get food, Joseph got him food.  If Potiphar said the floors needed sweeping, Joseph swept. Joseph did whatever Potiphar told him to do, and Joseph trusted God’s plan for him.  But one day, somebody said Joseph did something very wrong! And Joseph didn’t do it! But Joseph was sent to jail anyway. Joseph didn’t do anything wrong, but he was put in jail! Now, at this point in the story, we might wonder if God really had a plan. The word genesis means “the beginning.” Some of our true story is found a part of the Bible called Jeremiah. Jeremiah loved God and told people many things that God wanted them to know. Our true story is all about a plan. Did you know that God has a plan for you? It’s true! God has a plan for each one of us, and He had a plan for a young man named Joseph.  Now, Joseph had brothers. Do you know how many brothers Joseph had? He had ELEVEN brothers. Let's count to eleven: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11! Do you have eleven brothers? No, I didn’t think so! Well, one day, Joseph’s father gave him a special gift. It was a coat! A beautiful coat. When the brothers saw Joseph had a special coat and they didn’t, how do you think they felt?
