God Keeps His Promises
Luke 1:57-80
A little while after Elizabeth learned she was going to have a baby, the happy day finally came. Elizabeth and Zechariah welcomed a baby boy, just as God had promised. Everyone around them was joyful. Their family and friends were happy because they could see that God had been very kind to Elizabeth.
When it was time to name the baby, people thought he should have a family name. But Elizabeth said, “His name is John.” At first, everyone was surprised. Then Zechariah wrote down the name too—John. This was the name God had given the baby.
As soon as Zechariah wrote the name, something wonderful happened. Zechariah could speak again! The first thing he did was praise God. He thanked God for keeping His promises and for helping His people.
Zechariah talked about how God was getting ready to send Jesus. He said that John would grow up to help people get ready for Jesus by teaching them about God.
John grew bigger and stronger each day. God was with him, and God had a special plan for his life.
God kept His promise to Zechariah and Elizabeth. God filled their hearts with joy. And God was getting ready to do something wonderful for the whole world.
God keeps His promises. God gave Zechariah and Elizabeth a baby just like He said He would, and God always does what He promises.
Dear God,
Thank You for loving us and taking care of us. Thank You for keeping Your promises, just like You did for Zechariah and Elizabeth. Thank You for baby John and for the happy joy he brought. Help us trust You and remember that You always do what You say. We love You, God.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Bible Verse: “For nothing will be impossible with God.” — Luke 1:37, BSB
Paraphrase: “Nothing is too hard for God.”
