The Thankful Woman

Image
Luke 7:36-50 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Luke. Luke loved Jesus and wanted others to know and love Jesus, too. And the word gospel means “good news!” One day, an important teacher invited Jesus to his house for dinner. Many people came to the dinner, and they were sitting around the table with Jesus, eating and talking. Then a woman, who was not invited, walked in with a bottle of perfume. Now, this woman had made a lot of bad choices, so the important teacher who invited Jesus over did not think she should be at the dinner. But the woman heard that Jesus was going to be there. She knew Jesus loved her, and she wanted to see Him. The woman went to Jesus and started crying. Do you know why she was crying? She was crying because she knew Jesus loved her, no matter what. She was SO thankful that Jesus loved her that she wanted to do something special for Him. So, she washed Jesus’ feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. She poured special p...

Matthew 8:5-13 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew was a disciple of Jesus. That means Jesus was his teacher. And the word gospel means “good news!” Our true story is about Jesus helping someone. One day, Jesus walked into a town, and a centurion came up to Him. A centurion is a fancy word for someone who was a leader of a lot of soldiers. Centurions were very powerful and important. But this centurion had heard about Jesus and all the amazing things He had done. Even though the centurion was an important person, he knew that Jesus was even MORE important. And he needed Jesus’ help! The centurion said, “My servant is at home. And he is very, very sick.” “Please! I need your help to make him better.” The centurion really needed help, and He believed that Jesus had the power to help him. Jesus asked the centurion, “Do you want me to come to your house and make him better?” The centurion said, “I know you are so powerful that you can just sa...

Mary and Martha

Luke 10:38-42 Jesus and His friends, the disciples, walked to different towns because Jesus loved people and wanted to teach them about God and how to love one another. One day, Jesus visited a town where two sisters lived. Their names were Mary and Martha. Mary and Martha both loved Jesus, and Jesus loved them! Martha was SO excited to see Jesus that she invited Him to come to their house. As soon as Jesus got to Mary and Martha’s house, Mary sat right down at His feet.  Mary knew that Jesus would say important things, so she wanted to hear everything Jesus had to say. Mary wanted to spend as much time as she could with Jesus. But Martha didn’t sit down with Jesus. Martha got busy. Very, very busy. She was cooking and cleaning. You see, Martha was trying to make everything perfect for Jesus’ visit. So, while Mary sat at Jesus’ feet, Martha was busy, busy, busy doing things around the house. Finally, Martha went to Jesus and said, “Make my sister help me. I’m doing all the work!” B...

Luke 18:15-16 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Luke. Luke loved Jesus and wanted others to know and love Jesus, too. And the word gospel means “good news!” Our true story is about someone who loves us a whole lot! It’s Jesus! Jesus loves us! We know that Jesus can do amazing things only He can do. Jesus is an amazing teacher, and people would come from far away to hear Him teach. A LOT of people would come to hear Jesus. The people came because Jesus is amazing, and they wanted to see Him, hear Him, and get close to Him. One day when Jesus was teaching, people brought their children to see Jesus. The parents wanted their children to get close to Jesus. These parents knew how special and amazing Jesus is. BUT Jesus’ disciples stopped the parents. They didn’t want the children near Jesus. The disciples told the children to go away. But Jesus called the children to Him and said, “Let the little children come to me!” Jesus opened His arms wide, and the chi...
