Peter Learns That God Loves Everyone

Acts 10

Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Acts, which is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” An apostle is someone who is sent to teach others about Jesus.

Cornelius was a kind man. He was a soldier, but he also loved God. He prayed every day and helped people who needed help. One day, an angel came and said, “Cornelius, God sees you! Send for a man named Peter.”

So, Cornelius sent some friends to find Peter.

While they were on their way, Peter was on the roof of a house, praying. He had a dream. In the dream, Peter saw a big sheet coming down from Heaven. Inside the sheet were animals that Peter had never eaten before. A voice said, “Peter, eat!” But Peter said, “No! I don’t eat those animals.”

The voice said, “God made them. Don’t call them bad.”

Peter woke up and didn’t know what the dream meant. Then Cornelius’s friends came and asked Peter to come with them. Peter said yes.

When Peter got to Cornelius’s house, lots of people were waiting!

Cornelius wanted to hear what Peter would say. Peter told them all about Jesus—how Jesus helped people, how He died, and how God made Him alive again.

Then something wonderful happened! God’s Holy Spirit came to Cornelius and his whole family. Peter was so happy. He said, “Now I know God loves everyone!”

God loves every person, everywhere. Cornelius loved God, and God helped Peter see that everyone is special. No one is left out of God’s love. We can love and welcome others just like God does.

Dear God,

Thank You for loving everyone in the whole world. Thank You for helping Peter learn that no one is left out. Help us be kind to everyone, just like You are. Help us tell people about Jesus, just like Peter did. We love you, God.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Bible Verse: But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. — Romans 5:8, BSB

Paraphrase: God shows His love for us.

Activities

These activities help preschoolers engage with the story through movement, crafts, music, and storytelling, making the lesson fun and memorable.

1. Welcome Circle Game

Objective: Show that God welcomes everyone.

Materials: None.

Activity:

Children sit in a circle. Choose one child to stand in the middle and say, “God loves everyone, even [name]!” and invite that child into the circle. Repeat until all children are included.

Say: “Peter learned that no one is left out of God’s love. God welcomes us all!”

2. Sheet of Animals Craft

Objective: Help children remember Peter’s vision.

Materials: White paper, animal stickers or drawings, string or yarn, tape.

Activity:

Give each child a sheet of paper to be the “big sheet from Heaven.” Let them draw or place animal stickers on it. Tape a piece of string to each corner so they can “lower” the sheet like in Peter’s dream.

Say: “God used this dream to help Peter learn that everyone is special to Him!”

3. Sharing Good News Role Play

Objective: Practice telling others about Jesus.

Materials: Simple costumes (scarves, hats), optional toy microphone or pretend scroll.

Activity:

Let children take turns pretending to be Peter, telling others that “Jesus loves you!” or “God welcomes you!” The rest of the children can pretend to be Cornelius and his family listening happily.

Say: “Peter told Cornelius’s family all about Jesus. We can tell others too!”

4. God Loves Everyone Song (Music Activity)

Objective: Celebrate God’s love for all people.

Materials: Rhythm instruments (or clapping hands).

Activity:

Sing to the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”:

        “God loves people everywhere,
In their homes and at the fair,
Short or tall and big or small,
God’s great love is for us all!
        God loves people everywhere,
And we’re glad to share and care!”

Let children play instruments or clap as they sing.

Say: “Peter learned that God’s love is big enough for everyone!”
