God Gives Jesus
Luke 1:26-33, 38, 46-49
Our true story comes from the Bible. It is in the part, or book, of the Bible called Luke. Luke loved Jesus and wanted others to know and love Jesus, too.
Our true story of Christmas begins with one of the first people God told about Jesus. She was a young woman named Mary who lived in a small town called Nazareth.
How do you think God told Mary about Jesus? Did God call her on the phone? No! Did God use an airplane to write a message in the sky? No! God sent...an ANGEL!
When Mary saw the angel, she was surprised and afraid!
But the angel said, "Don't be afraid, Mary. God loves you, and I have good news!"
The angel said, "You are going to have a baby boy. He will be God’s Son, and His name will be Jesus!"
The good news was that God loves us so much, He gave us His Son, Jesus, to be our friend forever! We know God loves us because God gave us Jesus!
Bible Paraphrase: God has given a son to us. – Isaiah 9:6, NCV
Text Truth: God told us He would give us Jesus.
The angel told Mary she was going to have a special baby. His name was Jesus! God gave us His Son, Jesus, to be our friend forever. That’s how we know God loves us. God gave us His Son, Jesus!
With your family, make a list of things God has given you. God has given you food, family, friends, sunshine, animals—God has given you SO many things!
Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. Acknowledge to God that He has given you SO much! Thank Him for giving you (read through your list). Most of all, thank God for giving you Jesus. Affirm that Jesus is the best gift ever. Thank God for His love. Acknowledge to God your Love for Him.

Family Devotional
The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” – Luke 1:28-33
