Esther

Esther 2:2–8:17

Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Esther. Esther loved God and trusted Him even when that was very hard to do.

We begin with a king. This king looked everywhere for the most beautiful queen. The king had his people search and search to find a woman to be his queen.

And guess what? They found her. Her name was Esther. The king was so happy they found her that he married her.

There was also a man named Haman. Haman worked for the king, but he did not love God. In fact, Haman had a plan to do something very mean to Esther’s family, who loved God very much.

One day, Haman told the king that he should get rid of a whole group of people—God’s people.

When Esther heard about this, she was so upset. The king didn’t know that Haman’s plan would hurt Esther’s family and friends. Esther knew she could not let this happen.

Esther loved God with her whole heart. But going to the king to ask for his help would be scary. She knew she might get in big trouble for going to see the king without being invited. But God was with Esther, and she knew that He would make her strong!

So, Esther asked the king if he would come to dinner, and the king agreed. It was at dinner that Esther was strong enough to ask the king to save her family and friends.

The king said, ‘Yes!’ He would save God’s people. Esther’s family and friends were safe.
Esther knew that God was always with her, and He made her strong! And God can make YOU strong too, because He is always with you.

No matter where you go, no matter what you do, you can be strong because God is with you.

Bible Paraphrase: We have the Lord our God to help us. 2 Chronicles 32:8, NLT

Text Truth: God is with me so I can be strong.

Family Devotional

Then Queen Esther answered, “If I have found favor with you, Your Majesty, and if it pleases you, grant me my life—this is my petition. And spare my people—this is my request.
—Esther 7:3

Our Bible story was about how Esther was strong enough to go ask the king to save her family. A long time ago, a person would get in BIG trouble for trying to talk to the king if he didn’t ask them to talk to him first. But Esther had to be strong, go talk to the king, and try and save her family. And she did it! She talked to the king and saved her family!

We have the Lord our God to help us. —2 Chronicles 32:8, NLT

God was with Esther when she had to go to the king. So, with your family, make a list of places you have to go.

Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. In your own words, say, “Dear God, There is no one else like You. Only You can always be with us wherever we go. We can go to (read the list your family made), and You will still be with us. You being with us makes us strong and brave, wise and courageous! You are amazing, and we love You very much. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
