Do Everything in Love

1 Corinthians 16:14

Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the First Letter to the Corinthians. The letter was written by a man named Paul, who loved Jesus and wanted everyone to know about Him.

If Jesus had a party, EVERYONE would be invited. Grown-ups would be invited! And children would be invited! Everyone can celebrate that Jesus loves them because Jesus loves everyone. And Jesus wants US to love everyone, too. In fact, Jesus said, “Do everything in love.”

Wow, everything? Let’s think about that. Let’s say you’re at the grocery store, and the checkout worker seems like he’s had a sad day. You’re done with your groceries and are just about to leave. What could you do to show love? You could say, ‘Bye! Thank you. Have a great day!’ I bet they would smile and wave back!

Okay, let’s try another one. Your brother runs into the kitchen and really wants a . . . COOKIE! But there’s only ONE left. And you’re holding it. He’s upset that he didn’t get a cookie. What could you do to show love to your brother? Could you break the cookie in half and share? Yes, sharing the cookie would make your brother feel so loved.

Okay, what about this one? You and your friend are playing in the sandbox at the park.  You’re having so much fun with your friend, and there’s a kid who is all alone by the slide. They don’t have a friend to play with. What could you do to show love? You could ask them to play!

Whether you’re on the playground, at dance class, at school, or at home, you can do what Jesus said and "Do everything in love." So, let’s celebrate because Jesus loves EVERYONE!

Do everything in love.  —1 Corinthians 16:14

Our Bible story, today, was about how we can love like Jesus. And the best way to love like Jesus is to do EVERYTHING in love! That’s why we learned this Bible verse.

Do everything in love.  —1 Corinthians 16:14, NIV

We have been talking about loving like Jesus. So, with your family, make a list of things you can do to love like Jesus.

Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. In your own words, say, “Dear God, we want to do everything in love, just like Jesus. Please help us love everyone, everywhere, and do things like (read the list your family made). We love You, God. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
