Acts 2:42-47 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called Acts, which is short for “The Acts of the Apostles.” An apostle is someone who is sent to teach people about Jesus. Our true story is about how more people believed that Jesus is alive, and those people became the Church. That’s right! The Church is not about a building. The Church is made up of people like you and like me. And Jesus wants the people who are the Church to LOVE! LOVE is what the Church is all about. How did the first Church love each other?  Every day, the people would eat meals together.  The people learned about Jesus together.  The people prayed together.  And the people shared everything they had with each other. If one friend needed a coat, another friend would share their coat.  If one friend didn’t have a place to live, another friend would let him stay with them.  People would even sell things that they had so they would have money to help each other.  The people of the first Church wanted to love

Matthew 28:19-20 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew was a disciple of Jesus. That means Jesus was his teacher. And the word gospel means “good news!” Our true story is about one really important thing that Jesus wants ALL of us to do. Jesus told some of His friends about the one important thing while on a mountain. We begin on a mountain with Jesus and His friends, the disciples. While they were on the mountain, Jesus gave His friends an important job to do. What do you think that important job is? GO and TELL! Jesus told His friends to GO and TELL everyone, everywhere that Jesus is alive and wants to be your friend forever. That’s a very special job! And guess what! Jesus wants ALL of His friends, like you and me, to do that job, too! Oh, look! It’s grandma! Let’s go and tell her. Ready? One . . . two . . . three . . . “Jesus is alive and wants to be your friend forever!” Oh, look! It’s the checkout person at the grocery store. Let’s te

John 21:1-14 Our true story is found in a part of the Bible called the Gospel of John. John was one of the friends and helpers of Jesus. And the word "Gospel" means "good news!" Do you remember what happened in the Easter story? Jesus died. And when Jesus died, Jesus’ friends were very, very sad. But then three days later—count to three with me . . . one, two, three . . .  Jesus came back! Yes! Jesus came back because Jesus is alive! How do you think Jesus’ friends felt when He came back? Were they happy or sad? YES! Happy! Jesus is alive! And that is the Easter story. Well, this story happened not long after the Easter story.  One day, Jesus went to see His friends while they were fishing. Jesus wanted to spend time with His friends so they could see that Jesus is alive and He wants to be their friend forever. When Jesus’ friend, Peter, saw Jesus, he got so excited that he jumped in the water—SPLASH! Peter swam right to Jesus as fast as he could! Guess what Jesus w

Matthew 26:20-50; 27:1-2; 28:1-7; John 13:33; 14:1-3, 28 Our true story comes from parts of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel of John. Matthew and John were disciples of Jesus. That means Jesus was their teacher. And the word gospel means “good news!” Do you know why Easter is such a happy day? Because Easter is when we celebrate that Jesus is alive! And that is what our Bible story is all about. It begins with God’s love for us. God loves us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to be our friend forever. But before Jesus could be our friend forever, something sad had to happen. One night, while Jesus was having dinner with His friends, Jesus told them He was going away but that He would come back. After dinner, Jesus went to pray in a garden. While Jesus was in the garden, some angry people came and took Jesus away. The people hurt Jesus, and He died. All of Jesus’ friends were so very, very sad. After Jesus died, His friends put Jesus’ body in a tomb with a big sto

Matthew 21:1-11, 15-16   Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew was a disciple of Jesus. That means Jesus was his teacher. And the word gospel means “good news!” Our true story from the Bible begins in a town called  “ Jerusalem. ”  One day, the people who lived in Jerusalem found out that Jesus was coming to their town.  What would you do if you found out that Jesus, God’s Son, was coming to your town? Would you jump up and down?  Would you cheer? “ Yay, Jesus! Woo hoo! Yay, Jesus! ” Would you run to see Jesus? Of course, you would! Because Jesus is SO special! The people in Jerusalem thought Jesus was special, too, so this is what they did. The people lined up on the street so they could see Jesus. Then they took their coats off and grabbed palm branches and laid them on the ground to make a special path for Jesus to ride on. Some of the people waved palm branches in the air and cheered for Jesus! The people were ready to celebrate Jesus!
