Jesus Helps a Man in Bethsaida See

Mark 8:22-26


Our true story comes from the parts of the Bible called the Gospel of Mark. Mark loved Jesus and told people about Him. And the word gospel means “good news!”

One day, Jesus came to the town of Bethsaida.

Some people brought a man to Jesus.

The man could not see.

His friends loved him.

They believed Jesus could help.

Jesus took the man's hand.

He gently led him away from the crowd.

Jesus cared about the man very much.

Jesus touched the man's eyes.

Then Jesus asked, "Can you see?"

The man looked around.

"I can see a little," he said.

Jesus touched the man's eyes again.

This time, the man could see everything clearly!

He smiled with great joy.

Jesus had made him well.

Jesus is kind and caring.

He helps people because He loves them.

We can trust Jesus to care for us every day.

These activities help preschoolers engage with the story through movement, crafts, music, and storytelling, making the lesson fun and memorable.


1. Follow Jesus Path

Objective: To help children understand that Jesus gently guided the blind man and that we can trust Jesus to guide us.

Materials: Masking tape to make a simple path on the floor, Optional: paper footprints

Activity: Create a simple winding path on the floor with masking tape. Have the children walk along the path one at a time while the teacher says, "Jesus gently led the blind man." For a second round, children may gently hold the teacher's hand as they walk the path, illustrating how Jesus lovingly guides us.

Talk About It: "Who took the blind man's hand? How does Jesus help and guide us today?"


2. Jesus Helps Me See Craft

Objective: To remind children that Jesus helped the blind man see and helps us understand God's love.

Materials: Paper plates, Child-safe scissors (teacher assistance as needed), Crayons or washable markers, Craft sticks, Glue or tape

Activity: Before class, cut two eye holes in each paper plate to create a simple mask. Children decorate their masks with cheerful designs. Attach a craft stick to the bottom so they can hold the mask in front of their faces. As they look through the eye holes, remind them that Jesus helped the blind man see clearly.

Talk About It: "How do our eyes help us? Who helped the blind man see?"


3. "Jesus Is My Guide" Song (Musical Activity)

Tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb (Public Domain)

Objective: To reinforce that Jesus lovingly guides and helps us every day.

Materials: None 

Activity: Teach the children the song while using simple motions. During the first verse, children pretend to hold Jesus' hand by holding one hand out. During the second verse, they point to their eyes and then spread their arms wide to show they can see clearly.

Song Lyrics:

        Jesus is my guide each day,
        Guide each day, guide each day.
        Jesus is my guide each day,
        Because He loves me so.

        Jesus helps me see His love,

Talk About It: "How did Jesus help the blind man? How can we trust Jesus to guide us?"


4. What Do You See?

Objective: To help children appreciate the gift of sight and remember Jesus' miracle.

Materials: Several familiar classroom objects (Bible, toy sheep, cup, flower, stuffed animal, block, etc.) 

Activity: Place several familiar objects on a table. Invite children to close their eyes for a few seconds while the teacher quietly removes or adds one object. When the children open their eyes, ask them to identify what changed. Repeat several times, allowing different children to make the change.

Conclude by reminding the children that seeing is a wonderful gift from God and that Jesus lovingly helped the blind man see again.

Talk About It: "What wonderful things can you see with your eyes? Why was the blind man so happy after Jesus healed him?"
