Jesus Can Do Anything

John 2:1-11

Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called John. John was one of the friends and helpers of Jesus.

Today's story takes place at a wedding. Have you ever been to a wedding? That's an extra special party where two people get married!


At the wedding, all the bride's friends and all the groom's friends came to celebrate their big day. It was a huge celebration, a big, fun party. And for that, they needed special food to eat and super fancy party drinks, too.


Everyone was so happy celebrating. But then there was a problem. They ran out of the super fancy party drink. What were all the people going to drink now?


Well, Jesus was at the party with his mother Mary. Mary knew that Jesus was God’s Son and that He could do anything. So, His mother told Jesus to help.


Jesus told the servants to fill six jars with water. The servants filled the jars up with water.


Then Jesus did something amazing! He told the servant to dip a cup into the jar. And the servant did.


And when the servant brought it out of the jar, it wasn’t water anymore. Jesus did something NO one else could do! He changed the water into super fancy party drink!


Not everyone at the party knew what Jesus had done. But the servant knew! And he learned that Jesus can do anything! We know that Jesus can do anything because we KNOW that Jesus is God's Son!

Family Devotional

What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him. — John 2:11

Our Bible story is about something Jesus did that only He can do. What did Jesus do in our story that only He can do? Yes! Jesus turned water into super fancy party drink! How did Jesus do that? Because Jesus is God's Son.

With God all things are possible. – Matthew 19:26, NIV

Since with God all things are possible, and Jesus is God’s Son, that means Jesus can do anything! That’s how Jesus turned the water into super fancy party drink!

With your family, make a list of your favorite drinks. What is your favorite drink? Chocolate milk? Orange juice? Water? Lemonade? Whatever you like!

Pray with your family. Allow any family members to pray if they wish. Acknowledge to God you know that with Him all things are possible. And because Jesus is God's Son, Jesus really can do anything! He can even turn water into favorite drinks like (read the list your family made). Acknowledge to God that he is SO amazing, and that you praise Him for His love and power and for sending Jesus to be your friend forever. Thank God for His love. Acknowledge to God your love for Him.
