God Loves Me So Much

John 3:16 and 1 John 4:9-10

Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of John. John was one of the friends and helpers of Jesus. And the word "Gospel" means "good news!" Our true story also comes from a part of the Bible called the First Letter of John. The letter was written by John because he loved Jesus and wanted everyone to know about Him.

A long time ago, God made the whole world. He made the sky and the trees and the animals—and He made people, too. God loved everything He made, but most of all, God loved people—and that means God loves you!

God’s love is the biggest, strongest, kindest love ever. He wanted us to know just how much He loves us, so God sent His Son, Jesus. Jesus is God’s special gift to the whole world.

Jesus came to show us what God’s love looks like. He was kind to people, He helped them, and He told them all about God. Jesus said, “God loves you, and I love you, too!”

The Bible says, “God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son.” That means God’s love is so big, He wanted everyone to know it—including you!

Even before we knew how to love God, God already loved us. He sent Jesus so we could be close to Him forever. Jesus is the best gift of love the world has ever been given.

So when you think about Jesus, you can remember this: God loves me so much!

God loves me so much that He sent Jesus. God’s love is the biggest love of all. He loves everyone, and He loves me! Jesus is God’s special gift to show us how much He cares. I can always remember that I am loved by God.

“Friends, say this prayer with me.”

Dear God,

Thank You for loving me so much. Thank You for sending Jesus to show me Your love. Your love is big and strong and never goes away. Help me remember every day that I am loved by You. We love You, God.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Bible Verse: “Be imitators of God, therefore, as beloved children, and walk in love, just as Christ loved us.” — Ephesians 5:1-2a, BSB

Paraphrase: “You are God’s child. Show love like Jesus did.”

Activities

These activities help preschoolers engage with the story through movement, crafts, music, and storytelling, making the lesson fun and memorable.

1. Heart Collage: “God Loves Me!”

Objective: Help children express and remember that they are loved by God.

Materials: Large heart shapes cut from construction paper, smaller hearts or stickers, safety scissors, glue sticks, crayons or markers

Activity:

Give each child a large heart shape to decorate. Encourage them to glue on small hearts, draw pictures of people or things they love (like family, pets, or toys), and color it freely. Write or help them write “God Loves Me!” across the big heart. As they work, repeat: “God loves you so much. Jesus is His gift to you!”

Talk About It: “Your heart reminds you that God loves you very much. What are some things you love? God gave us Jesus to show His big love for you!”

2. Special Gift Game: “God’s Love Is a Gift”

Objective: Teach children that Jesus is God’s special gift of love to us.

Materials: Wrapped gift box with a toy or stuffed animal inside

Activity:

Gather the children in a circle and pass around the gift box. Say, “God gave us a very special gift—do you know who it is? Jesus!” Each child takes a turn unwrapping the box and saying, “Thank You, God, for Jesus!” Re-wrap the box after each turn.

Talk About It: “When someone gives you a gift, it means they love you. Jesus is God’s gift to show how much He loves you!”

3. Mirror Time: “God Loves Me!”

Objective: Help children understand that they are known and loved by God personally.

Materials: Small unbreakable mirror or mirror toy

Activity:

Invite each child to take a turn looking into the mirror. As they do, say, “God loves [child’s name] so much!” Encourage the child to repeat it: “God loves me so much!” Let them smile, wave, or make silly faces if they’d like, reinforcing joyful self-recognition.

Talk About It: “God made you and loves everything about you—even your smile and your silly faces!”

4. Music & Movement: “God’s Love Is Big!”

Objective: Celebrate the greatness of God’s love through joyful movement and music.

Materials: Upbeat praise music, rhythm instruments (optional), or just clapping hands

Activity:

Play a lively song about God’s love or chant, “God’s love is big!” while clapping. Invite the children to dance, stretch their arms wide, and jump for joy. Randomly pause the music and encourage them to freeze and say, “God loves me!” together before starting again.

Talk About It: “God’s love is BIG and strong and full of joy! Let’s show how happy we are that God loves us!”
