David Trusts God
1 Samuel 17:1-50
Our story comes from the Bible. It is found in the part of the Bible called 1 Samuel ("First Samuel"). It is the first of two books in the Bible named after Samuel.
There was a big, big giant named Goliath.
Goliath was very tall and very strong. He shouted at God’s people and said, “Send someone to fight me!”
All the soldiers were afraid. No one wanted to go.
Then David came.
David was not a soldier. He was a shepherd. He brought food for his brothers and heard Goliath shouting.
David said, “I will go!”
People were surprised. David was small, and Goliath was very big.
But David trusted God.
David said, “God helped me before, and He will help me again.”
David picked up five small stones and took his sling.
He did not wear heavy armor. He trusted God instead.
David ran toward Goliath.
He swung his sling and let go of a stone.
The stone hit Goliath—and the giant fell down!
God helped David win.
Jesus helps us see this clearly.
Jesus teaches us to trust God and not be afraid. God is always with us.
Key Takeaway for Preschoolers
We can trust God, even when we feel afraid.
Dear God,
Thank You for helping David be brave. Help us to trust You when we feel afraid. Remind us that You are always with us. We love you, God.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
