Jesus Is the Light

Image
John 1:4-5, 8:12, 9:5 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of John. John was one of the friends and helpers of Jesus. And the word “Gospel” means “good news!” We begin with the whole world. God made the whole world and everything in it. Then God made the people, and God gave a gift for all people. God sent someone really special. We celebrate this special person being born on Christmas. Do you know who it is? Yes, it’s Jesus! God sent Jesus to be the Light of the World. Now, Jesus is not a light like a flashlight. Jesus is a light who helps us see how amazing God is.  When Jesus helped people, He was a bright light showing us how God helps people. When Jesus forgave people, He was a bright light showing us how God forgives people. When Jesus loved people, He was a bright light showing us how God loves people and how we can love people too. If our friend needs help learning to play a game, we can love like Jesus and help them. If our brother or sister knocks d

John 3:16; 1 John 4:9-10 Our true story comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of John. John was one of the friends and helpers of Jesus. And the word "Gospel" means "good news!" Our true story also comes from a part of the Bible called the First Letter of John. The letter was written by John because he loved Jesus and wanted everyone to know about Him. We begin with Someone who loves you very, very much. Here is a hint: Who made you wonderful? God made you wonderful! God loves you so much! God did something very special because God loves us. God gave us a gift. Has someone ever given you a gift? Maybe someone gave you a teddy bear as a birthday gift. . . . or a toy car. Those are good gifts for sure. But the gift God gave us is the most amazing gift ever! And it’s for everyone in the whole world! God loves us so much that God gave us . . . JESUS! God loved the world so much God gave us Jesus! Wow! Jesus is special because Jesus is God’s Son, AND . . . Jes

Our true story also comes from a part of the Bible called the Gospel of Matthew. Matthew was a disciple of Jesus. That means Jesus was his teacher. And the word gospel means “good news!” We begin with someone very important . . . it’s YOU! Do you know who thinks you’re important? God! God thinks you’re important. God loves you so much and God knows everything about you. Let’s play a game to learn more! It’s called, “God knows.” Let’s try it. Does God know when you are happy? Yes, God knows when you’re happy.  Does God know when you’re sad? Yes, God knows! God knows when you’re sad. Does God know when you sit down? Yes, God knows! Does God know when you stand up? Yes, God knows! God knows when you sit down or stand up.  Does God know the words you’re going to say to a friend? Yes, God knows! God even knows what you’re going to say to your friend

The word genesis means “the beginning.” Our true also story comes from a part of the Bible called Psalms. The word psalm means holy song or special song. Our true also story comes from a part of the Bible called Proverbs. A proverb is a wise truth. We begin with the One who MADE all things. That’s right! God! God made so many things. God made the whole world. God made EVERYTHING . . . the bright stars, the moon. And guess what else God made? God made you and God made me! God made ALL people, and people are the most special thing God made because God made us to be like Him. One way God made us like Him is we are creative. We are creative when we paint a picture. Or when we dance. Or sing a song. Or when we cook something yummy to eat. One way God made us like Him is we can think. There are so many things we can think about! Like . . . how does the sun know w

The word psalm means holy song or special song. We begin with . . . YOU! God made you inside and out. That’s what today’s story is all about. Put your hands on your head. God made your head. God made your head wonderful! Say, “God made me wonderful.” Let’s talk about something else God made. Pat your tummy. This is where your food goes. God made your tummy, and God made it wonderful. Say, “God made me wonderful.” Stomp your feet. God made our feet! God gave us feet with wiggly toes. Wiggle your toes and your feet.  God made your feet wonderful! Say, “God made me wonderful.” God made every part of you. Your hands . . . . . . your feet . . . . . . your mouth . .  . . . and your eyes! God made your eyes. God made some eyes brown, some eyes blue, and some eyes green. Some people even have one br
