The Bible Tells Us to Share

Acts 2:45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need . — Acts 2:45 Our story comes from a book of the Bible called Acts. That name is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” The word "Apostle" is another word to describe a helper of Jesus. Our Bible story tells us about some people who loved Jesus. The people were gathered together in a room. Buzz, buzz, buzz. The room filled with talking and laughter. The people called themselves Christians because they did what Jesus Christ said to do (Christian means "follower of Christ"). The Christians knew that Jesus was God’s Son. They wanted others to know about Jesus, too. Grandmas, grandpas, moms, dads, and children met together in homes. They would pray, sing, and learn about Jesus together. All these people loved Jesus. They were like one big, happy family. Because they loved Jesus, the Christians happily shared what they had more than others. Everything a person had was happily s...

Jeremiah 29:12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. — Jeremiah 29:12 The Bible tells us that we can talk to God. And the Bible says that when we talk to God, He hears us! Some people think you must use big, fancy words to talk to God. And some people think you have to be a grown-up who is super smart. But that is not true. You can talk to God. It does not matter if you are very young or very old. You can talk to God! You can talk to God when you wake up in the morning. You can talk to God when you go to bed at night. You can talk to God when you are riding in a car. You can talk to God anytime, anywhere, about anything. And the Bible says God will hear you! What can you talk to God about? You can tell God a funny joke or how your sister made you mad or when you're scared of something or sad about something. You can ask Him for help or just tell Him you love Him. You can talk to God about anything. The Bible tel...

The Bible Tells Us to Love

John 13:34-35 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”  —  John 13:34-35 NIV Helping others is a great way to show love for others. The Bible is God's word to us. And the Bible tells us that God wants us to love people. We can trust what the Bible says when it tells us what to do and shows us the way to go. The Bible tells us to love one another. Does that mean God wants us to love...people who are older than us? Yes, it does! What about our teachers? Yes, God wants us to love our teachers. And what about police officers? Yes, God wants us to love polices officers. But what about kids who are mean to us? Yes, even the mean kids. What about our little brothers when they break our favorite toy? Yes, even our little brothers when they break our favorite toy. God wants us to love others the same way He lov...

The Bible Shows Us the Way

Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path . — Psalm 119:105 NIV Our story comes from the part, or book, of the Bible called Psalms. The word psalm means holy song (or special song). The Bible is like a flashlight. It may sound silly, but it is true. What if you were riding a bike and it started to get dark, and you could not see which way to go? A flashlight would be very helpful! The Bible is like a flashlight, a map and a compass all in one. It is a very special book written for us from God. Everything in it is true. The words inside the Bible tell us what to do and the best way to go. What if you were riding a bike and you accidentally ran over your mother's flowers? What should you tell your mom? You could lie to your mom and tell her a big dog messed up her flowers or...you could do what the Bible says and tell your mom the truth. The Bible says telling the truth is always the best way to go! What if you and your best fri...

God Had the Best Plan for Joseph

Genesis 42-45 Our story comes from the book, or part, of the Bible called Genesis. Genesis means "the beginning." The Bible tells us of a young man named Joseph. Joseph lived with his father Jacob and his brothers in Canaan. God chose Joseph to do a very important job. But Joseph and his family did not know it. When Joseph was seventeen years old, his brothers sold him to some Ishmaelites as a slave. They took Joseph down to Egypt. Potiphar, an Egyptian, one of Pharaoh's officers, the captain of the guard, bought Joseph from the Ishmaelites. God was with Joseph, so that he prospered for many years in the house of his master, the Egyptian. But Joseph was accused of something he didn't do. Joseph was arrested and put into the prison, the place where the king's prisoners were kept. Later, Joseph was chosen by Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.  Joseph had a very important job. He made sure that plenty of grain was stored and ready ...

Joseph was arrested and put into the prison, the place where the king's prisoners were kept. One day, the king of Egypt had a bad dream. The king told his dream to many people. But no one could tell the king what his dream meant. The king of Egypt called for Joseph. The king said, "I had a dream. No one can tell me what it means. Can you tell me what it means?" Joseph...
