Acts 18:1-4, 7-8, 11, 18 Our story comes from a book of the Bible called Acts. That name is short for “the Acts of the Apostles.” The word "Apostle" is another word to describe a helper of Jesus. The Bible tells us about a man named Paul. Paul loved God. Paul liked to tell people about Jesus. He traveled to different cities and countries teaching God’s Word. Many people listened to Paul and believed in God. Tromp, tromp, tromp. One day Paul traveled to a city named Corinth. He met a man named Aquila [ACK-wih-luh], and his wife, Priscilla. They became friends and asked Paul to live with them. Aquila and Priscilla were tentmakers. Snip, snip, snip! They cut heavy pieces of cloth to make big tents. Then they sewed the cloth together with big needles to make tents. Besides teaching God’s Word, Paul also was a tentmaker. Paul liked making tents and worked with Aquila and Priscilla. While they worked, Paul talked to Aquila and Priscilla about God’s Word. They ...

Mark 12:41-44 Our story comes from a book in the Bible called Mark. The Bible tells us many things about Jesus. One day Jesus and His helpers were at the temple. The temple was in the city of Jerusalem. Many people went there to worship and learn about God. Jesus sat across from the place where people put their gift offerings of money. Tromp, tromp, tromp. Jesus watched as many people came to put their offering or gift in the offering containers. Some of the people Jesus saw were rich and dressed in beautiful clothes. They were carrying big bags of money. The rich people looked around to make sure everyone was watching them. Then they put some of their money into the offering container. Clank, clank, clank, clank. It made a very big sound. The rich people were happy that Jesus saw them putting lots of money into the offering container. They wanted Him to notice that they were giving lots of money. But this did not make Jesus happy. Jesus knew the rich people had lots...

King Hezekiah wanted to praise God in a special way. He thought of the ways King David had praised God years before. King David had liked music. So King Hezekiah had an idea. The people in the temple could praise God by making music together! But first the temple needed to be cleaned and repaired. The man who was the king before Hezekiah had closed the temple. So Hezekiah had the temple opened and cleaned. Then King Hezekiah called the priests and the Levites [LEE-vites] to the temple to worship and make music to God. They were helpers at the temple. Hezekiah asked the people of Jerusalem to come and worship God too. The priests mad music by playing trumpets. Toot-ta-ta-toot-toot. 1 Kings 8 Our Bible story tells us about a king in Israel. That king’s name was Solomon. Solomon was the son of King David. For many years, the people of Israel did not have a special building where they could worship God. Sometimes they worshiped in a tent or outside. God had a special plan for King Solomon. God wanted him to build a special place, or temple, where the people of Israel could worship. King Solomon told the workers how to build the buildings. He had special furniture put in the temple to use when the people worshiped God. King Solomon planned a time for people to come to the new temple to praise God. People came from all over Israel. King Solomon was happy when he saw so many people. He stood in front of them and spread his arms toward heaven. King Solomon and the people prayed to God. King Solomon prayed, “God, You are very great. You keep Your promises. Please hear the people when they pray. “When we ask You to send rain so w...

God Made Our Senses

Genesis 1:27; 3:20; 4:1-2; Job 20:9a; 34:3; 42:5; Proverbs 20:12; Matthew 11:15 The Bible tells us that a long time ago, God made the earth and everything in it. God made the first people on earth. Adam and Eve. God made their two boys, Cain and Abel. God wanted them to enjoy the world He had created. God gave them special parts of their bodies called senses. He gave them fingers to feel, eyes to see, a nose to smell, ears to hear, and a tongue to taste with. You are using your eyes to look at words and pictures. What is something that feels wet? (water). What can you hear with your ears? (bird) What can you taste? (orange) God made our fingers, eyes, noses, ears, and tongues. God made our senses. God gave us fingers so we could touch. Close your eyes and touch your leg. Think about how it feels. Open your eyes. God gave us eyes to see. Look at your hand. Think about how it looks. God gave us noses to smell. What are some things that smell? God ga...

Genesis 1:27; 2:7; 3:20; 4:1-2; Psalm 139:1-6, 13-18 The Bible tells us what God made. God made a man named Adam. God also made a woman named Eve. And God made two boys named Cain and Abel. It is God who made Adam’s, Eve’s, Cain’s, and Abel’s bodies. God made for each of them a head…and arms…and hands…and legs…and feet! And God made you and me. God knew all about you before you were born. He saw your body even before you were made. God even knows how tall you will be when you are grown-up. Just like Cain and Abel, God made our bodies. He made for each of us a head…and arms…and hands…and legs…and feet! God made our bodies to do many things. He made our arms to throw a ball. God made our legs to stand and sit. He made our hands and fingers. They can wash, pick up things, even pet animals. God made our feet and toes to help us run, walk, and hop. God made our faces so we could eat, breathe, and see. God made our bodies to grow and change. As you grow, you can...
